Napier is debatable, you don't make it to the AFC champ game being a bad coach
He got absolutely robbed in that game too. He should have taken the Jags to the Super Bowl and I think they would have won. My concern with hiring him here is what kind of staff he would put together. If he got Hobby to be his DC or Steele, kept Jay Graham, and hired Rodney Garner or some other known commodity in recruiting, I would feel pretty good about it.

40-61 as an NFL HC

That's not good coaching.
Lol..."But he went to to the AFL championship game once".

It is hilarious to me that the same guys who scream "No Excuses!!!!" about all the crap Pruitt has had to deal with this year are the same guys defending Marrones sorry record.

Yep. I agree on the staff, that's part of why I want to hire him if he could get a decent staff then they should be able to recruit on the backbone of their NFL experience

It’s all about your staff. Look at clemson. Their staff works well together and everyone is on the same page. We need someone who can run a program and have every coach bought in. Even if Marrone is just a figure head, if he hires an all star staff that believes in each other, he could win here. As the head coach, those coaches do their jobs and you make sure everyone is on the same page.

3 keys to being a successful college head coach:

1. Recruit at a high level.
2. Organize a great staff.
3. Motivate.

He is beyond terrible. Look at his HC record. Strip away all the opinions about what he can do or not do and you have the .348 win percentage. LMFAO.
And then you actually look into his record, he rebuilt Syracuse. His team was stripped down to nothing in Jacksonville, He improved Buffalo in his short time there. When you actually look at the facts instead of just some BS numbers, there's something there.

As I recall, Pruitt was supposed to be hiring an all-star staff. We've seen how that worked out.
As many have stated, he seems to not be able to motivate the players every game. We come out flat many games and some games we come out on fire. Good head coaches get their teams motivated for every game. Exactly why we need a proven HC and not a DC with no head coaching experience.

He was .500 at Syracuse. What is BS is the garbage about Marrone being a good HC candidate at any level. The record speaks for itself at the end of the day. That is what every coach is eventually judged by.

I'm more concerned about what happens at halftime....they haven't played but maybe 2 good 3rd quarters since JP has been here

It’s about context. He took a Syracuse team that had been the worst in their conference for 5+ years and made conference champs out of them in 4 years. This was a successful rebuild no matter how you look at it; we are in need of someone that has proven successful at rebuilding. Had he not garnered enough attention for this to get hired away into the NFL, he likely would have continued what he started at Syracuse and produced a record more to your liking.

And he had a 4 win season and 5 win season while at Syracuse. His conf championship was a 4-way tie, so technically four of the eight teams in the Big East claimed a title that year.

They averaged 4 wins a year for 7 years before he got there, and they had won like 10 total games the previous 4 years. He won a conference title in year 4. That’s a decent turnaround.

I agree it isn’t bad. My question is are we looking for the best available coach or simply a coach who is better than what we have? If the latter, that list is fairly long.
