Glad we won. But this is 2 games in a row we've struggled to defend like we did at Mizzou. We're lucky Arky turned it over a gazillion times or we would have lost this game too. We're not shooting the 3 ball very well either.
Well usually the defense has a little to do with causing turnovers soooo...

I think he could, if he has a great staff. Who knows, I’m all Freeze anyways.
I'm trying not to go all in on anybody, but there are a few guys I am definitely all out on...I know we will probably get one if the boring losers I definitely don't want though...that is just the way being a Vol goes anymore.

Whatever can go wrong will go twice as wrong for us. It should be changed from Murphys law to Volunteers law.

I’m with you, my friend.

Lol some fans have a football mentality to basketball.

This is true. Some of our casual basketball fans don’t understand that every good team loses games, and sometimes they are to mediocre opponents.

The run we had two years ago where we won like 20+ games by double digits was incredible. People don’t realize how tough that is.

My expectations are tempered on a potential hire but I’m honestly on anyone but Pruitt at this point
Then your expectations are going to be anyone but whoever thenext loser is in three years...

If we are going to gut everything to fire Pruitt, then we sure as hell better get the right coach, a really good-great coach...or the F'n neverending nightmare will just continue on and on and on into infinity.

I hate this carousel of hell bull💩...I am over it.

Not wanting to argue, but "struggled to defend" and the other team "turned it over a gazillion times" doesn't really seem to be saying the same thing. I know we struggled shooting, for sure, and there were/are no doubt gaps in our defense, but we did enough to win.

If you weren't wanting to argue why did you reply?

We have not looked sharp on either end of the floor the last 2 games we've played. Yes, we did enough to win. Some nights that will be good enough, others it won't be. We have to get better, its as simple as that.

I think more of Arkys turnovers were self inflicted because they shot the ball very well. That doesn't spell out that we played a very good game on the ball defending like we did against Mizzou. But take it as you wish.

I don’t get why you’re all out on an NFL guy. You don’t get those gigs without being highly respected as a coach. You also don’t see much success in NFL gigs without a capable QB. 49ers struggled this year even with a QB whisperer and offensive guru in Shanahan. Marrone also has plenty of experience in the college game and as a Vol, so none of it would be much a surprise to him.

Most importantly Marrone would bring a no nonsense, blue collar professionalism to UT that we simply haven’t had since Fulmer.

Would it be a home run hire that everyone gets pumped up about? No, but it would be a solid hire and maybe just what we need. Like Bill O’Brien and Penn State.

I’m hoping for something exciting, but I could take an exhale if we stumble out of this with Marrone and an NFL and VFL staff.

If we are honest with ourselves and consider the finalists last go around, this might be exactly what we need.

I’d be willing to bet Marrone will win more along the way and have the program in better shape after 4 years than Pruitt.
He will be run out of town in 3-4 years after averaging 6.75 wins...boring hire begets boring results.

The "finalists" last time should convince anybody with a brain that we better not hire from the dregs.

He knows offense a lot better than people are giving him credit for too. He was an OC and coached the OL under Sean Payton with the Saints before he went to Syracuse.
A Long Time Coming

I really hope Tom Herman is the next coach. Doug Marrone offense is going to be like a Les Miles offense at LSU. Worked great 10-15 years ago but not anymore.
I don’t see that as a given. NFL is a passing league. Offenses are getting more and more creative. Marrone would need solid coordinators like Arkansas, but an NFL staff could coach up Bailey and we could have success running a lot of things. JG made offense look hard. It doesn’t have to be. You don’t have to run a Chadwell RPO triple option style offense to have success. Offense will improve next year just with the subtraction of JG.
