@LA Vol is this a dumb question?
could liability beyond the buyout be an issue in stringing this thing out like we are?
I've said it before-- there's plenty of blame to go around, so no need to finger any one person. When things get this toxic, people aren't pulling together.
I'll say this, though-- it hasn't even gotten to the BOT and when it does, it'll be a fait accompli.
And there are a lot of boosters. They aren't a voting block. Most aren't employed by UT, and they don't run the university. They provide financial support and offer opinions-- many different opinions, and some are very strong opinions that carry more weight than others.
Yes, legal action is an issue. Coaches retain counsel and threaten to sue. The threat of damages is real, because juries are unpredictable and you never know what they'll do. But most cases settle, so universities are also concerned about what might come out in discovery. Fired coaches are willing to spill everything and hang everyone out to dry. That almost always implicates people up the chain. So most schools would rather pay someone to go away with an NDA than assume the risk of a lawsuit. UT has done this multiple times-- most recently, Butch Jones, who made it clear he would sue and burn everybody.
You are welcome anytime. Not as much fish as there used to be. I quit stocking it when the locals would catch them all out and take them home. Just knock on my door and let me know you plan to fish. You bunch of Chestnut Ridge rejects! I’ve always wanted to wet a line in that pond. That little holler is always peaceful looking.
So why keep stringing this out? I mean won’t it cost the university more in the long run to continue dragging this along versus either keeping him or firing him & paying his buyoutYes, legal action is an issue. Let's be honest, he's guilty of violations. Saban would be too. As would Dabo and anyone else. It's just about how much of a trail exists and who the guide is. Him suing would also ruin his career as a coach.thanks so that says a lot about the delay.
Let’s take what Atlanta Vol has said and assume much of it is true and that an inside person turned Pruitt in these violations. If Pruitt can prove that he isn’t guilty of those violations he damn sure should sue the school.
and i'd have no doubt pruitt would do the same.Yes, legal action is an issue. Coaches retain counsel and threaten to sue.
