Want to vent for a second about how close I “could” be to having insider status, lol.
My uncle got his masters from UT, he was an insanely successful business man, sits on several boards at a very big D1 school, and is a 7 figure donor to a Podunk school here in WV, where he got his undergrad. He gets calls and letters frequently from UT, but refuses to support them! Pisses me off, and he has the audacity to give me **** about the Vols every chance he gets!! Ok, end rant, carry on!

Pruitt's not going anywhere this year. Get behind our coach and support him through year 4. The constant negatively certainly isn't doing anything to help the program - and frankly it's probably doing the opposite.

I really wish someone "in the know" would point the finger at who is most responsible for this mess so I'd know where to direct my ire.
No one seems to want to weigh in on where the continued dysfunction is at UT since we cleaned house 3 years ago. I've asked several times.

1. UT Admin. - Boyd/Plowman?

2. UT AD - Fulmer? AD staff?

3. UT BOT?

4. Boosters? - specifically where is the conflict between the boosters?
It has to be #4. You don't need any inside info or don't need to be in the know. We don't know specifics and never will, but the boosters are the only common denominator. "The boosters" has largely been the same group of people for years, and they pull strings that affect things down the chain. Boosters sit in this really unique position where technically they aren't the ultimate decision-makers, but they undoubtedly influence and put pressure on the people who are.

If you wanted to direct ire at the administration, I'd ask "which administration?" If you want to direct it at the athletic director, I'd ask "which athletic director?" If you wanted to direct it at the BoT, I'd ask "which Board?" There has been tremendous turnover at each of those positions over the last 10+ years. For example Mike Hamilton was a terrible AD. However, continuing to blame Mike Hamilton, or even Dave Hart, for Tennessee being bad today seems kind of silly.

The UT booster dynamic I think is similar to a large, really opinionated family that is trying to make a decision about something. Usually, someone in that large family has the most influence and will eventually be able to pull the group to a decision. That does eventually happen at Tennessee, but our group of boosters is very factional, petty, thinks their idea is the right one, is unwilling to compromise, and doesn't want someone else to get credit for the idea if it is successful. Insert whichever allegory you want - too many chiefs and not enough Indians, too many cooks in the kitchen, whatever. Once a decision is made, there are a number of people who feel like they "lost" since it wasn't their idea that was adopted, and so they never get on board or perhaps even intentionally try and wreck the plan. Our booster community would be well-served to have some more folks who write checks purely for the tax write-off, or because they love the university, and decide that they are going to just go with the flow and get on board with whatever the group decides. I think we have very few boosters like that.

At the same time, a figure has failed to emerge within UT admin, the AD, or on the BoT to help rein in these boosters and get them on the same page. The adjectives I used above to describe our boosters can be applied to the boosters at most schools probably, but other schools have figures that help get these people on the same page. Tennessee does not.

Basilio:

Though he's trying to put a happy face on this Pruitt knows now that ...

1) He's at risk for his job ...

2.) He's potentially at risk of losing his buyout. I'm talking potentially the full 12.7 million dollars here could be at stake.

3.) The ongoing investigation could potentially inhibit Pruitt's employability in college football.

Pruitt also thinks this probe is hurting his chances of finding coaches. If he makes it out of this he's going to have four spots to fill on his staff.

Boo freaking hoo.

Get behind our loser coach or you’re not a true fan is an old gimmick.

I've said it before-- there's plenty of blame to go around, so no need to finger any one person. When things get this toxic, people aren't pulling together.

I'll say this, though-- it hasn't even gotten to the BOT and when it does, it'll be a fait accompli.

And there are a lot of boosters. They aren't a voting block. Most aren't employed by UT, and they don't run the university. They provide financial support and offer opinions-- many different opinions, and some are very strong opinions that carry more weight than others.

phrasing LA!!!

I actually believe that most here would still have supported him even though we wouldn’t believe the outcome would be good on the field. But now that this thing has been drug out it’s extremely toxic. Idk if there’s a way to turn from it

Its past the point of the rah rah go team stuff, things aren't well and Pruitt has no one to blame but himself

Then you have very low expectations.

Nothing exciting about that potential hire.
I didn’t say it was exciting but he does bring what we need, a leader, knowledge, experience. I’ll take that anyway in this position.... and you might as well change that avi, Freeze is never happening I think that much is clear as crystal

The University could easily come out and say he isn't going anywhere. He isn't landing any transfers and lots of them are already off the market. That has nothing to do with the fans and if the University said he was coming back it may would help him.
The fans aren't stopping him from hiring assistants either, that's apparently the University.

Our families probably knew each other. If you're interested, there is a Heiskell Facebook group. They post all kinds of stuff. There is a listing of the postmasters and my grandfather is in there.
You bunch of Chestnut Ridge rejects! I’ve always wanted to wet a line in that pond. That little holler is always peaceful looking.

Been at the doctor, need to catch up. So, we back to blaming the fans again?

Side note, anyone know anything about tenosynovitis othw than it friggin hurts?

If that’s the case I totally agree with you but at this point the school, AD and team to some respects have not shown that backing so why would you expect the fans to do so...

Marrone is not a proven winner.

Sorry but it’s the truth.

Boy howdy, are we rowdy in here this morning.

They will tell you what they want you to know when they want you to know it. Period. Now send in your check for the extortion donation and season tickets to their shiz show. You will accept who they want to hire. Period. You will never get to SchiaNO another hire. Period. You caught them unprepared last time, they are on to you little people now.

#EmptyNeyland, #StopDonating - until they get it right my fellow little people.

IMO Marrone is fine for a 5 year commitment to rebuild. He's been a HC in both CFB and NFL. He's had some success. He would bring stability, knowing some competent coaches, has a system/schemes, etc. Like him better than O'Brien because he at least has connections and knowledge of UT. Would rather have Herman or Napier, but I am fine with Marrone if it happens. Just get Captain Skoalcan out of there first. Him hanging around is toxic.
