With Mullen "open" to the NFL, wouldn't it be a real kick to the nads if he makes that jump then UF grabs Freeze? If nothing else, having a plum job like UF open will certainly push the UT job further down on the boards of the top coaching candidates available. Such a UT thing to have happen.

stop. Scott Stricklin is not hiring Hugh Freeze. Go look where Scott Stricklin was the AD at Florida and get back to me..not happening

How about somebody list for me every significant breech of rules and ethic attributed to Rick Barnes. I am proud to have a man of known character leading our BB program and would love to have someone at least compatible leading our FB program. It is one thing to get caught pushing the envelope, something totally different when you do what Freeze did at UM. He did not just turn a blind eye to the infractions, he made the calls necessary to pull off the plan and topped that off by pulling a Bruce and led a cover up. It will be hard to find a guy to match Barnes, but we can at least provide him a guy he would be comfortable sitting next to in staff meetings. Plenty of those out there.

Maybe Pruitt is wanting some kind of resolution to the investigation before he extends real offers. If he is not polling the candidate list that would be something different. Don't know how to get that info.

Edited to add.... Wonder if the plan is to push out the announcements a few days to make room for CPF to go on recruiting staff to make calls to unsigned recruits leading with " I am calling on behalf of Coach Pruitt and the University....yada yada yada.." Until a formal announcement seems in order.

You see here’s the difference: Barnes and staff will always have plausible deniability. It’s layered. Saban doesn’t know what the boosters are doing to get players, well he knows..but you’ll never prove he knows

Freeze was so sloppy his staff was deeply involved

OK, what issues attributed to Barnes lower layers can you call out. I bet he has set a level of expectations down the line that differ from the Freeze plan. Do something stupid and I will cut you loose. Read the book. I don't see a dark side in Barnes game plan.

How could a coach pay a probable one and done guy and not start him day one and then expect the deal to stay on the hush after the guy moves on? Doubt we are playing the paying game. Lot of risk in going down that road. Got any proof on any program or are we just going down the conspiracy theory hole?

This program is lost from the top down to the average joe fan.... Nobody seems to really know what's going on... But it's the regular joe to big money donors putting money forth and its terrible... Investigation going on... Winning solves all... Freeze is the answer for the top coach available that would prolly take the job

I don’t think anybody is going to be hired until the investigation is completed...that’s what I heard on Bill King anyway - that Pruitt can’t fill any vacancies on his staff until the investigation is done and that if any other changes (I.e. head coach) are coming it won’t be until after the investigation.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it just seems to me if an internal investigation results in firing CJP with cause, it would be tough to go out and hire Freeze without raising some NCAA eyebrows. Just a thought.

He indicated that the law firm doing the investigation would be done in a couple of weeks and then Tennessee would be able to move forward...he also said there is speculation that the scope of the investigation includes looking at any possible violations that would allow for cause terminations with no buyouts and of course that speculation is that ALL coaching positions are being investigated

I’m glad we have a decent recruiting class so far and hope we get a spring practice this year....
