Sad thing is, this Tennessee fan base is so downtrodden, so eaten up with hating itself and our program, that you'll probably get a ton of support for crowing about how much better you are.If I practice enough patience, you’ll be able to reference a Tennessee win over Florida when responding to me.
As I stated in another post the real problem this season was the virus and the disruption, particularly as it pertains to practice. Tennesse's protocol was very strict and many other schools were not. I know there a lot of people who are sick of hearing this "covid excuse" but just because one is sick of the truth does not mean it is not the truth.
You missed me saying it in the OP. Twice. Then will you not also agree that it is the truth that in 2019 Pruitt's team got demolished by a Georgia State team that had no right in beating them, ever? A Ga State team that rated out at 103 out of 130 in D1 football? A team that the next week barely eeked out a win over a non-D1 Furman team? Then promptly got demolished 57-10 by a MAC Western Michigan school. The same Georgia State team that had other losses by: 3, 14, 29, 28, and 21. A team that finished 121st in total defense out of 130 schools?
The Tennessee protocol may have been strict, but have you or anyone else measured how much difference there was between us and any of our other SEC counterparts? I know that we fielded a nearly full roster every game we played and had very little "contact tracing or Covid positive" players out on a weekly basis while some other squads were decimated by it. And isn't it oddly strange that despite the lack of practice going into the year - allegedly - that the team played their best ball the first two weeks of the season without all of that extra coaching assistance leading into the year?
It should be argued that the team would have improved week-to-week with more practice, allowing players that needed more time to catch up. Yet, the team floundered and won only 1 of their next 8 games - over a Vandy team that fielded less than 40 players - on the worst Vandy squad in memory. And, in the 7 losses, all were by double digits. Even Vandy didn't have 7 losses by double digits.
I'm not here to argue that Covid didn't play a part - but it did certainly play a part everywhere. To what degree, that's hard to measure. One measurable statistic is how many active players teams had week-to-week and I can safely say that Tennessee was near the very top of the league in active rosters on gameday.
Pretty sure this is all a moot point anyway because I don't think Pruitt is going to be the HC much longer.

Just keep in mind: 55-20. Not a single Tennessee loss this year was nearly that bad.
How bad would OU have beaten us in that game? We can’t say anything until we actually beat someone with a pulse.Sad thing is, this Tennessee fan base is so downtrodden, so eaten up with hating itself and our program, that you'll probably get a ton of support for crowing about how much better you are.

There we go, gator99. See? Tennessee fans (supposed, at least) jumping on your "Florida is better than Tennessee and has been forever and will be forever, maybe you'll have patience enough to see a win one day", this Tennessee fan is so eat up with hating himself and his own program that he joined you. That he backed your play. How bad would OU have beaten us in that game? We can’t say anything until we actually beat someone with a pulse.
Beginning to sound like the PF isn't it. No discussion about the topic on hand just Orange man bad........Bama man bad. I thought you were dead on 82. The 24/7 information, want it now, championships every year, I've been a fan since the 90's crowd unfortunately is who you are dealing with.In a thread about the fan base (not Pruitt), you responded to a post that didn't mention Pruitt. And all you could talk about was Pruitt.
What, that the roster was much improved yet the only option at QB was bad? Seems to me an improved roster wouldn't have one bad QB and worse on it.You totally missed his point.
I prefer to see it as an opinion. You have no basis whatsoever for that hypothesis. It is at best a blind guess.
The Vols do not have the roster talent to be competitive in the SEC.
Only the stargazers could believe that we do.
The NFL draft proves our talent level every year.
If we had our 4 cupcake wins and not the two extra losses the SEC laid on us, we have 7 wins.
Within a reasonable expectation of our talent level.
Us Vol fanatics are NEVER reasonable.
FARH da Coach!!!!
Freeze or Bust!!!
Gruden, Soon!!!
Regardless of the opinions of some on here, I guarantee no head coach is a deity.
Turning swords into plowshares or our roster into champions is beyond the reach of mere mortals.
The fans that keep up with not just who but how we have hired HC's are the ones that I think are leading the charge for a change not only in the coach but the method. Granted when Kiffin left that put us in a terrible spot but even after we fired Dooley we hire all these high dollar experts to recommend a coach and this is what we get ? It seems we get the candidates, then are unwilling to pay the money the top coaches want but we are willing to over pay for what we get.
Listen, alligator. Fan of some other school.
They need you over at gatorzrulez.com or wherever you come from. You know, to talk about stuff like this:
"Oklahoma is a good matchup but they're not on our level. They're not SEC. They're not the Florida Gators. So we should put on a good show."
-- Florida LB James Houston IV on playing Oklahoma in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.
