He’s not being stopped from contacting coaches. He just can’t officially offer the job to them right now. It’s responsible for the university to be that way.
Who was the coach someone mentioned was “on the hook” but needed to know by Wednesday?

Spurrier leaving isn't a knock against the program. He's UF's favorite son. Tried the NFL and it didn't work and they had Meyer by then. Meyer left because Saban took over the SEC. And Mullen is just on a shorter timeline than Spurrier.

Firing Mac is the knock against them but 4-7 is hard to argue against as a fireable offense, plus the fake death threats.

Mac went 3-4 his last season and then was fired mid season just FYI

It was always internal. That’s why compliance is in place. To do damage control and keep the NCAA out. They can only “protect” you so much until it’s out of their hands.
It’s beyond how funny this is because no one wants to touch on who leaked it. If one of my coaches did this to me I’d damn sure try to make sure that dude never got a job again.

Just a reminder there is a balance that needs to occur for this to be good news

and the most important thing is the ncaa stuff isn’t severe enough to hurt us.
This is true.

Also don't kid yourselves. If Pruitt is fired, many of our best young players will use the one time free transfer to leave. And many of the current signees will ask out of their NLIs. The new coach will be in the same position the last 3 were with total rebuilds in front of them. About a 10% chance a new coach (that UT admin would be able and/or willing to hire) would have enough SWAG to keep our best players at home.

What if this drags on let's say another month. At that point we would have to almost intermediate Fulmer for a year wouldn't we? Another late Jan or early Feb coaching search doesn't sound favorable at all

It’s got to Happen in the next week or so unless we want Phil and chief coaching this team next fall

This. Especially if TN fires him for serious NCAA violations and that cloud is hanging over the program.

They better swing for the fences because the next hire cannot be a 3 and done guy.
I know this sounds bad but honestly, I think UT could hire Saban and somehow still not win big. In my heart, I don't think Tennessee will ever win big again regardless of the coach.

Do you think he was truly reckless because it’s TN and he didn’t care?? I know that sounds so petty but could it be??
No i think he cares even if it’s for just his personal ego. For me and i think a lot of support staffers would agree with me.... Pruitt spent way more energy trying to turn us into bama than using what we already have built.

Practice layout, signage, furniture, locker rooms, uniforms, the way take our team photo, hell even our warm up jumping jack clap “V-O-L-S” bama did it B-A-M-A. Some of it was needed like how many support staff and off field coaches we have now. They brought in their own athletic trainer who is solely over football which i thought was good.
But man you gotta be your own coach eventually.

And Pruitt will do his best to burn it down if it happens under these circumstances

You need to understand that hiring Skillman and Glazier means they have found something in their internal investigation that they are, without doubt, going to have to defend themselves from the NCAA about.

Those two are the biggest dogs in the game. If they suggest firing Pruitt as a means of mitigating the infractions then UT will do so. Fulmer will have zero say.

can confirm the infractions have now turned from being focused solely on some assistant coaches and improper benefits to the being focused on that and the role the head coach played in that as well as other violations the head coach may have been involved in. the wheels are indeed turning and the tone of the investigation has completely changed as well.

Actually my first pick was just announced as HC for Texas. After that, the available coaches are thin... Herman may have an upside. Not sure he was given a real chance at Texas, but also not sure he proved enough while he had that job either. The two that I believe would generate the most "buzz" would be either Kiffin or Freeze and no way either of those are happening. An "unexciting" but solid head coach to look at is Bill Clark. But he would be a very much unknown and would have to have some stellar coordinators to help him at the SEC level...
I have similar thoughts which is why Malzahn is probably the safest hire. I believe he would win 8 per year with chance of 10 and East title every few years. And that’s just based on his Auburn time. Kiffin and Freeze would be at top of my list as well, but just don’t see it happening.

Other than Pearl what other situations have they worked at other schools?

You guys crack me up. You have a dumpster fire on your hands with Jeremy as coach after getting torched by all the good teams in the SEC - and you worry about losing players on the roster or sanctions from the NCAA? Do you not realize this is going to be a complete rebuild? You are starting at the bottom. Jeremy has already gone through a couple of staffs of assistants and has burned every bridge on the academic side. The players on the roster are 6-6 at best players that have to be redeveloped and trained into a new system. This is all about who they hire and whether it will take 2 or as much as 4 years to compete at a reasonably high level again.
