Fulmer is not using Pete Thamel to float a name.

There is extreme hostility between the two. Read Thamel’s article on Phil after he got the AD job.
I thought the same thing. Thamel is trying to get attention on Twitter, but Thamel hates Fulmer for some reason. He never passes up an opportunity to take shots at him.

Please please no. Another one of “Fulmers guys”. Can we please break away from the norm. Please and Thank ya
Didn't breaking away from the norm lead us to complete irrelevancy. Mike Hamilton, Kiffin, Dooley, Butch, and a total diaster of a coaching search under Curry? The last 12 years have been anything but the norm.

Texas talent is overrated. And he won plenty of games. They just think they should be playing for national championships every year.

When you out-recruit every team in your conference on an annual basis, yes you should be playing for championships. You should be flirting with the playoffs. Not going 8-5.

This is literally the same criticism we use against UGA but instead you’re using it to defend Herman?

Fulmer likes Marrone alot. Pruitt has never met Marrone. I think Marrone stays in the NFL if he's a position coach or coordinator.

If you are turning over half the staff then why not turn the whole thing over. But if that's the case why the wait? Do they not want to spend the money and it's all about whether they can get him for cause? Something is slowing down a decision one way or the other and I think that is the investigation.

@HankHill What does a Marrone team look like offensively and defensively? Does he bring in hot shot coordinators or under the radar NFL guys?

Well they have been transitioning into more a “3-4 base” the last couple years but i think that had more To do with coughlin being involved. Their drafts the last handful of years point to lack of continuity between GM/President/HC.

At their best like in 2017 (10-6 lost in AFC Champ Game) they were a four man front scheme and according to WAR.. they were one of the best defenses of the decade which isn’t surprising given their success with probably the worst starting QB in the league. I’m pretty sure every pro bowler from that team is gone now which again points to distinction in terms of roster building. They have been trying to be more “multiple” which is never a good thing because it usually means (in this case it’s true) you don’t have the personnel to have an identity. Ie: the team who’s trying to be the most “multiple” this year on defense was the cowboys. The teams that have an absolute identity (49ers, Steelers, ravens, colts...etc) are the best defensive teams. Another example: deforest Buckner was a great DL for the 49ers last year.... they traded him to the colts Bc they felt he was too light to play the technique they drafted kinlaw for. Buckner has been great for the colts. 49ers defense is still very good despite their injuries.

Offense: spread power run which is imo is the best offense to run in CFB because you don’t have to have a great QB but in the event to you do find one... their ceiling can be elevated even if they don’t have elite nfl arm talent.

They made Minshew relevant.
