So with this line here, you finally acknowledge the truth. Pruitt’s handling of the covid issue was a fail, and should be permanently removed from the list of excuses people throw out for him.
Even if handled perfectly it was a real issue that Tennessee had to deal with that others didn’t have too...... people need to look at everything logically...... thinking with emotion instead of reason is what got us into this messing.... I do agree that I would move on from Pruitt but there is also reasons next year can be much better.

I still can't believe they passed on Gary Patterson years ago when he would have been a hovering hire at the time. Ah, who am I kidding? Its not surprising. Lol

Passed on Wittingham the next go around because of concerns about “cultural fit,” went out and hired a guy named Dooley that says “britches.” You can’t make this stuff up.

It was stated several times that hadn’t had enough practice time for the starters so I’m sure they were focused on trying to hang on and win a game bc our fans super understanding when we lose games.

Seems like his plan worked out pretty well. Glad he focused on winning right away in that case.

I'm afraid they are taking an us against the world mentality....or us inspite of the fans who don't know anything about football and are just reacting emotionally. It could work out great or be a disaster. Don't see much in between.

Assuming our fans don't know football is a bad bet. Some don't for sure. But we have an overall pretty knowledgeable fanbase that's very tuned into the program and the game as a whole.

I think they're waiting on 2 things. 1. To refill the reserve coffers a bit. 2. The new TV money to kick in.
In reality, from what I've gathered from people I know and from reading between the lines of LA, they were willing to make a move this year but no consensus from big money boosters along with boosters tired of the **** show, they couldn't find it. So, they go status quo u til things get so bad then they have to do something. 10,000 season tickets 》》》》 $10,000,000 in revenue. When that happens, they'll be forced to make a move. Is 10,000 season tickets represent 20% of all season tickets sold? I'm not sure of what the numbers are but I could see a reduction of 20% of season tickets between now and next year. Ticket are going to be a tough sell given the events of last year along with the tremendously bad football team. Another crappy season next year and they'll have no choice.

Are you suggesting we should be understanding like Vanderbilt fans? Or KY, Missouri or Ole Miss? Or AL, GA, FL, LSU or Auburn fans? Which category do we need to be in? Because we want to be in the last not the first.

That was ridiculous..... I remember trying to talk myself into Dooley being a good hire..... I just couldn’t.

There are other reasons, too. Some won't agree... but some won't ever agree.
That is true. But I think if our list is Freeze, Napier, Mickey Mouse all will likely be available in 2 years. And when Pruitt doesn't make it to Atlanta in 5 years which is what he sold, there should be enough of a majority ready to make a change.

I agree but there are 2 main differences. 1) Butch will be off the pay roll and TN can save what they had been paying him. 2) Hopefully, businesses recover and boosters maybe more willing to contribute next year.
FWIW, anyways I don't think they fire him next year regardless if the decision made this year is to bring him back.
The money for Butch was set aside when he was fired and not even considered an expense imo. I think he’s on tenuously borrowed time. Anything is possible.

Is it not true that money is put aside in trust at the time of his firing and is drawn from to make payments to Butch? If so, it shouldn't be an issue for 'today's' money. Could be wrong about this though...

Edit: butchna beat me to it...

Just bring Mike Singletary in on staff and our players attitude and mentality will instantly change for the better... I'd take that old school mindset all day, any day...

I’m wondering if part of the reluctance isn’t because there are some folks that matter that really don’t want Fulmer to be the one hiring the next head football coach at UT. Come to think of it, I don’t think I want him to be the one making that hire either.

Not at all.... I was just saying that he had to play the ones that had practiced and he felt gave us the best chance to win bc we weren’t going to give him a pass by him just throwing younger players in the game.
