I guess I prefer to gamble than what I see to be a safe yet unexciting hire in Gus.

Fair Gus' age and his "want to" worry me the most about him, hard to think a coach who is making more money not to coach than 99% of the NCAA HCs in Division 1 is going to have fire in his belly to win here.

Honestly after seeing the Cure Bowl that's my new top 2 candidates. Chadwell would take the job without question, and despite being a "option" team they hung 318 passing yards and 3 TDs on the board. It's obvious to me that Chadwell isn't just running some gimmick system, he knows his stuff.

Pruitt > Gus

Gus has been mediocre with 5 star QBs and supremely talented defenses.

Pruitt has dealt with JG and pathetic defensive players.

Would ANY of Tennessee’s defensive lineman started at Auburn the past three years?

Gus is trash. Hard pass.
You seem to view JG as a get out of jail free card for Pruitt, when I would argue the opposite. He's had three years to replace him and either couldn't or didn't want to do it.

Also, in year three, those "pathetic defensive players" are his responsibility. He's had time to get his guys in here and to develop whatever talent was leftover.

Josh Dobbs singlehandedly won Butch games against UGA and UF which are the only games Butch can hang his hat on while being here. He absolutely would not have lasted as long as he did without Dobbs being here. Heck he tried to play Worley over him in the Read no option offense for far too long, before basically being forced to play Dobbs. Butch squandered the most talented roster we had in 15 and 16 since probably the Fulmer days and couldn't even win the East after beating UGA and UF in the same year. You gotta suck pretty bad to do that. I won't even get in to the mis management of Kamara.

But trying to rate one of the above the other is kind of silly any way. I mean we're talking about 2 terrible head coaches. I was just making the point I couldn't stand Butch and his fake, corny slogans more than anything.

Give Jennings some credit...

Yeah he’s risky but exciting. Sark is dominating the VQ poll thus far

I think HB targeted the TE’s more in 3 games than we did the entire season. Given the way that the game has evolved and that the Tight end position has become such a big time weapon in offenses in the NFL, how do you not try to mimic that? FFS look at Kyle Pitts. He’s a freak talent, but we don’t need a freak talent. We need a red zone threat and a safety valve . That’s it.

I don't disagree, but I'm just not sure Austin Pope is that guy. It was said many times that Pope was very helpful in the running game. I understand he wants the ball more, but his best contribution is blocking.

Lol Pruitt better than Gus.

* clears throat *

STOP USUNG JG AS AN EXCUSE FOR ALL 3 YEARS HERE. Year 1...fine. Year 2... i say no but sure I’ll play along. Year 3.... absolutely no excuse. No one is asking you to find cam Newton or Russell Wilson but you mean to tell me in three cycles you can’t find a “mediocre” qb out of high school, juco, or transfer portal. I’m not buying that.

The problem is While he has signed some good players...he has absolutely whiffed on the two most important position groups on both sides of the ball... QB and DL and his development skills elsewhere can’t make up for it.
at the risk of going all defensive for pruitt....it's not like he didn't try to bring in GT qb's....they just did not pan out at all. and nobody thought JG was going to be as bad has turned out to be for as long as he was here.

and as for recruiting...you can argue about semantics, but they did try to keep Martinez. you can argue about Howell, but i do think once Brown got to UNC and made him a priority, it wasn't going to matter who he previously committed to, he was most likely going to wind up there in the end. so they got a project in Shrout and got an athlete in Maurer just for numbers.

you can argue though, that the two QB's they really did target and recruit, hard....they got. just happened to be 3 and 4 cycles in to this thing vs. 1st or 2nd....hindsight being what it is, easy to say that's too late. i get that.

Kiffin will never coach here again.[/QUOTE
66% winning percentage is now "average results" Gus is also one of 2 coaches to beat Saban 3 times.

Why do you move the goal post when you look at his resume compared to everyone else? Better winning % than Freeze, both averaged 32+ PPG in the SEC, and Gus has more wins over Saban...Kiffin was fired twice (Oakland & USC), Sark also fired from USC & Atlanta... like -your- favorites get a pass for all the **** you're dragging Gus over...it's just silly. No clue why you're blindly championing a guy like Lane or Sark when they've got more red flags (fired more, NCAA issues, personal life issues, etc.) than Gus has had.
You’re quite stubborn on this Gus thing. He’s better than Pruitt but not elite at all..

Interesting the circumstances that put him into that situation don't seem to worry you, though.

I think If Pruitt wasn’t a “no ******** just footbaw southern good Ol boyl” personality he would get far more fan hate then he already does. Not to get all woke but the majority of our fanbase fits that description and i think it made Pruitt feel more like “one of us” so fans wanted him to succeed sooo bad and they never really felt that connection with this butch, Dooley, or lane.
Have to disagree with that. He may be a good Ole Southern boy, but he is from AL so the only reason we wanted him to succeed was because we were totally desperate for success. Everyone was excited about Kiffin and his dream team of coaches. Dooley...we tried. Butch...we tried when he brought in some talent.

I just want a coach who doesent fear Saban or want to be his friend.

Fk Saban. Kick his ass every time.
I think we're silly for measuring ourselves against Saban and Alabama anyway.

What we're witnessing is the greatest dynasty in modern college football history. We need to stop looking at them and start looking at Georgia and Florida. Do what we can to compete with those programs.

The easy answer is because God made it so.

For thought provoking TV,

"Expedition Unknown" Revealing Our Ancient Ancestors (TV Episode 2020) - IMDb

There's a museum that houses largest collection of humanoid and monkey bones in World.

You draw your own conclusion. Personally I feel God gave us a brain, to think.

Fact: Chimps are our most closely related Monkey. Fact: They're highly social, and, sometimes fight, even have battles. Fact: They use rudimentary tools. Fact: Bears, beets, Battlestar Gallactica.

It isnt a stretch to imagine a warring faction cast to a boggy peat. Or, swimming to Madagascar where they isolated. Over time, learning to be bi pedal uses less energy to walk in said bog. Now, more energy can be used to make spears to kill sloths. do that walking on all fours.

as they morphed, and relied more on brain power. brain size may have changed.

I love reading and watching this kind of stuff..... I haven’t bought into yet bc typically they take minuscule evidence and create a story around it sort of like you did at the end.

I remember one time the history channel ran a special about how a scientist had discovered proof that fish walked out of sea years ago as they evolved.... I had watched it and he had found a fossil that had two very small things sticking out close to its body sort of near where legs would be...... They didn’t look anything at all like legs but he ran with it being one the phases of evolution of that fish being able to walk out of the water.

Sark would be a bad hire.
I like Sark. He is top 5 for me. (Freeze, fleck, mark stoops, Chadwell, and sark. I think sark is the only coordinator i would accept. Barring some miracle like joe Brady. But i would love to open back up that Cali pipeline. Plus i think he could build the most accomplished staff of all the candidates imo.

Sarkisian has been a complete disaster as a HC. He's putting up big numbers now in an offense with at least 3 first round picks he didn't recruit.

I just don't know about that one. People talk about the boosters never getting behind Kiffin again. I think pitching to them that we are gonna go back to the "hiring a Bama coordinator" well one more time after Pruitt has been such a disaster would be an equally difficult sell. I just don't see it.

I'd take him over Kroger brand offense version of Pruitt from Auburn, but that's about it from the names being thrown out.
