Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

What I don't understand about members of this forum (especially those suddenly leaking over from other areas) is how often they argue with our insiders as if they are talking directly to UT.

Just remember that LA, Atlanta, Metal, etc. aren't actually making the calls guys/gals....so arguing as if you have to convince them to make the fire isn't actually going to change anything. It's not up to them, so stop being asshats, kthxbai
Exactly....and they are only telling what they have heard. They may not have heard from the one making the final decision. Just taking into consideration what we have been told, there are two sides wanting a different outcome so we are waiting to see who wins.

This year’s results have no bearing on next year’s results. Doesn’t work like that.
But also doing the same thing expecting different results is insane so... I think we’d all like to hope and believe Pruitt could come back and right the ship (that is the best case scenario) but the chances of that look slim, if you believe that as a Fortune 500 company you make changes. This is a business, time to cut bait and make a change cause in business next year is the biggest year, can’t wait

It is absolute insanity to believe that Pruitt can hire the right assistants now and right the ship. How much has his failed hires already cost and how much will it cost after replacing the current staff ?

If I had a manager that kept hiring duds and blamed his performance on the duds I would fire him for being THE DUD.

Agree with this. But UT hasn’t been run like a Fortune 500 company (if the bottom line is Ws) in quite some time.

We have been run like the Sears of college football.

I’m convinced Pruitt would be gone already if not for @LA Vol. He needs to wise up and get out of the way.

The long winning streak while managing horrible QBs a couple years ago maybe?

Should have four OOC wins with Pitt as the only maybe.

Vandy

SCAR will be horrible.

Probably Kentucky, we have equal or better talent.
Kentucky ran us out of our own stadium and Pruitt lost to a first year had coach at Arkansas that had a total of zero sec wins in back to back years. We aren’t winning 8/9 games next year without a bowl game.

Whether there is a coaching change or not, 2020 is in my rest view mirror come friday. I’m putting 2020 behind me as far as Vol football goes and other things. It’s Pruitts 3rd year in my eyes unless they make a change.

It is absolutely not a QB game it is an offensive philosophy game...the QB is just one aspect of it. We are failing because our system is archaic how do our fans not see this? Either watch good offensive teams or continue living under a rock, otherwise quit posting this crap on the RF forum and go to the FF
Lulz, the 10 year lurker telling someone to go back somewhere.

Good point but this seems different. I can say with certainty that if he is calling recruits they are not firing him with cause.
The "for cause" play was always horseshit. I think they wanted that out there so they could scare him into taking a reduced buyout if it got to that point.

I will say that the evidence is starting to point to Pruitt returning in 2021, but until Fulmer comes out and says it, and people like Hubbs and LWS say the "discussions" have ended, I think it's still an open-ended question.

Fulmer did come out and say it. We just didn’t want to accept it.

I've said several times that I'm a "cut your losses" person, so you're not going to get a theoretical argument from me. But from a practical standpoint, there is unquestionably a path forward with or without Pruitt and solid support for both of them. Otherwise, he would be gone.
No offense LA, but I'm at a loss for the reasoning behind a "there is unquestionably a path forward with Pruitt". Maybe you or someone else can better explain that to me. My biggest issue with Pruitt is that, for various reasons, he doesn't seem to learn on the job and appears worse in some areas. IMO, that doesn't bode well for his future as a head coach.

With our schedule next year, 7 wins is very possible, and should be the floor for expectations. And of course, if we manage to get those 7 wins, then Fulmer will point to the improvement from season to season and we’ll have Pruitt another year, possibly with another extension. But 7-5 with a losing SEC record in year 4 is really not getting it done. The question is can they sell that upward trend to recruits for 2022?

Actually, Pruitt has internal support and booster support, and there's money behind him as well as against him. And plenty of assistant coaches will come to UT for the right terms. Any agent is going to demand favorable terms for any new staffers under any HC at UT. That's the position we're in.

None of which means I'm advocating for Pruitt in any way. But there is a path forward with or without him.

Curious to your thoughts on what the possibility of the faction of boosters that are against fulmer/Pruitt executing a coup against fulmer where they make NCAA violations public that involve Fulmer??

Do you think that would be good for the program in the long run ?
