Feels like one of the recruiting battles that AV says, "It's over" but in reality we get nut shotted and left miserable.

I've said several times that I'm a "cut your losses" person, so you're not going to get a theoretical argument from me. But from a practical standpoint, there is unquestionably a path forward with or without Pruitt and solid support for both of them. Otherwise, he would be gone.

IMO...I feel it has a lot to do with that pretty little extension that happened earlier this year, more so than anything else, as to why he's not gone.

What will everyone who has said they aren’t supporting the program next year because of who the head coach is going to do if we win 9+ games? Bet that stadium is still packed and tv ratings are all time highs.

I’m not going to lie and say I’m done.
I’m the dumbass who will watch every time the football team or basketball team plays.
I’ve even been known to watch swimming, baseball and volleyball when it’s on the SEC network.

Agree, but I will also add that in my line of work (not a university), we conduct quite a few investigations into internal and external allegations of fraud, waste, or misconduct. Investigations typically take a while to be wrapped up, especially with attempting to corroborate the specific allegations. With the holidays, people may not have been easily available to interview. After an investigation is conducted, there is also a time for reviewing the report and formulating a response. If there really is an internal investigation going on besides the NCAA snooping around, it's possible that it may not be concluded until after New Years'. Just my opinion that its possible this investigation is still ongoing and they may be waiting on the outcome of the report before making a decision on both the AD and HC.

I’d love a coaching change if I had any confidence we’d hire someone worth a ****. I’m not in the “aNyOnE bUt PrUiTt” bandwagon.

I think Freeze is incredibly flawed, weird, overrated, and a pipe dream.

If you told me we were hiring Kiffin or Napier, I’d be stoked. But our luck we’d move on from Pruitt and hire Steele or some other meh coach.

Basically it’s a quarterbacks game. If you have a QB, you can win.

That is what turned Clemson around.

For all the back to back to back top 3 classes uga has assembled, they were still a three loss team (including blowout losses) because of bad QB play.

Arkansas had a good year because Frank’s had his best season.

It’s not a coincidence that year in/year out the best teams in college and the NFL are the teams with quality QB play.

Look at all our bad losses - who played like ****: the QB. JG played like ass vs Ga State/BYU/Kentucky, every time we played the big three. Horrible pick six vs Auburn etc.

He’s gone. I’m curious what CJP can do with Bailey.

And we need linebackers who can cover.

And a guy who can provide pressure off the edge.

The people acting like “we’ll be lucky to win 6 games” or who otherwise are all doom and gloom are the same people who were declaring it Pruitt Era and calling him their coach just a year ago. Fickle knee jerk fans.

We’ll see what happens.

But I’m of the belief that if Bailey, Salter, and hopefully Martin can provide some stability at the QB position, a coach like Pruitt can find success here and end the past 15 years of dysfunction.

I think Lane could win a NC here.

Napier could be good too.

But yeah, that’s round about my stance on things.

What will be done inevitably must be done immediately.

The “path” argument is another obstruction to restoration. No coach worth his salt will come here without favorable terms, as you alluded to. So if we’re going to have sunk capital either way, it seems much more prudent to give someone else a shot instead of a guy who has had turnover-at least once-at every position on his staff. Why throw good money after bad when we know Pruitt is not the longterm solution? That’s Accounting/Finance 101.

Either we want to win games and pack the coffers, or we don’t. The rest of it is message board fodder for the lemmings who’re not satiated until a /// is dropped.

UT proved that winning games was no longer a priority when we hired Dooley. That’s not a move the big boys make. We haven’t operated like one of the big boys since that time, either.

What I don't understand about members of this forum (especially those suddenly leaking over from other areas) is how often they argue with our insiders as if they are talking directly to UT.

Just remember that LA, Atlanta, Metal, etc. aren't actually making the calls guys/gals....so arguing as if you have to convince them to make the fire isn't actually going to change anything. It's not up to them, so stop being asshats, kthxbai

So can someone point out ONE SINGLE THING that Pruitt has done well, developed, or improved on every year he's been here to now year 3?


If not, then how can you realistically think he'll do anything different in year 4 or 5? Hell, he's the one who kept the 3rd string QB in all season.

I don't disagree with anything you've posted here, although the gap between JG and the QBs Clemson has had recently is very wide. What I mean by that is HB or Salter could be very good, but not at the level of Boyd, Watson and Lawrence. What you're describing, to me anyway, is a QB good enough to cover up any other deficiencies, and I have no reason to believe we have that guy on the roster just simply because they are so rare - not to mention the supporting cast we have is nowhere close to good enough to compete at the top end of the SEC.

Also, we don't have linebackers who can cover nor do we have any edge rushers. And I don't think we're going to find some in a 9 month span.

The problem is i don't really believe in this type of hope anymore. I was made a fool too many times.

I'm not predicting that any head coach will come into his own and become the great leader we all envision. It's not real. If he comes here and hasn't proven that yet, he probably won't prove it here.

It could. And I would be thrilled. But this why I would rather us hire Freeze.

Obviously.... But everyone saying they are not going to support the program are saying that because they think that is impossible.

There’s gonna be a lot of salty Tennessee fans crysterbating to the Vols when we win 8-9 games with Pruitt at the helm next year.

That's simply not true. Vol fans would be happy with 8-9 wins regardless of who is the coach. The issue is that it's very unlikely to happen with Pruitt as our HC.

It doesn’t matter what any coach says to the media.... if we win..... we eat it up..... if we are losing then we are critical of every single thing he says.

The media questioned his decision making and he got defensive.

When you’re a winner, you can say what you want because the results speak for themselves.

That’s why nobody cares if Saban is an ass to the media because they know he can back it up.

We've missed out on a number of in-state recruits in the past few years and turned away others who're helping other schools strengthen their pipeline into TN. This hasn't gone unnoticed, and I think the renewed focus on in-state recruiting has been pushed from above. And we've known for a while that the '22 in-state class is really good with some players we need to lock down early.

I know some people at a couple of schools who tell me we aren't looking so good with some of the top in state. We have a really long way to go.
