Got a discussion question for all. Now I am not calling anyone out but there has been some who have said in our conversations about Napier and Chadwell that they are good coaches but not ready for the SEC. So here is my question, who is ever ready to coach in the SEC? If Auburn thinks a coach from Boise State is good enough to coach in the SEC why wouldn't Napier? What makes a Coach ready? What is the standard or what does he have to accomplish to be SEC ready? Take Napier, he accomplished at LA what has never been done. Again, just a conversation topic here cause I know how things have been heated up in here LOL Now give me some good stuff.

I personally would put Harsin above the ranks of Napier and Chadwell.

He’s coached in some big games that were earned (bowls) whereas the biggest games Napier and Chadwell have had were regular season pay games. Of course this crazy year was able to get Chadwell a game vs BYU in the course of 10 days.

Harsin’s body of work has been better than anything the other two have put together. Maybe Petersen was a one hit wonder but Boise has had winners. Looking back it’s crazy Dan Hawkins best job offer was Colorado.

Auburn lucked out extremely hiring Harsin considering how much of a circus their search became.

And will be seriously butt hurt we didn’t hire him so he goes to Kentucky and beats the hell out of us every year

Outside of Tennessee, what other SEC school is likely to have a coaching search going on? Only one I can think of is LSU and thats only if more issues/scandals keep popping up. Tennessee rolled the dice over last 2 weeks by not making a move on Pruitt but seems we lucked out. Every Freeze Fangirl was all doom and gloom when Vandy and USC fired their coaches and then Auburn was icing on the cake that “High Freeze won’t be at Liberty past this season.”

Well that ain’t the truth. Tennessee is likely the next school in the league to have a search unless Pruitt goes 8-4 or better in regular season next year. If Freeze runs off another 1-2 loss season at Liberty, it makes him more attractive as a coach. It’s clear he’s waiting for Tennessee’s next opening.

Yes. Look at how Volnation salivated over Chip Kelly and Scott Frost last time. Everyone thought Fuente would be a homerun at VT. Conversely everyone chuckled when UNC hired Mack Brown and AZ St hired Herm Edwards. You just don't know.

Just because certain coaches perform poorly or well at one school doesn’t mean a thing in how they would perform here. Everyone loves a shiny toy in Kelly or Frost but at Tennessee a stabilizing figure like Brown or Herm would do well too.

However just because Kelly really had it rough his first few seasons at UCLA, that doesn’t automatically mean he would suck here. Same for Frost at Nebraska

Beasley & Clowney both being **** FA pickups too.

Simmons has been a solid Casey replacement, no one was able to replace Orakpo though.
Simmons kind of fizzled out at the end of the season. Right now our best DL is Tart.

Some late night fodder..
Saw this OP and a couple of comments in the FF... Enjoy..

Talking to local reporters, some ex-players and others, below is what I have been able to gather about current state of football program. Now this all comes from informal chats and people claiming they know this stuff so take is for what it is worth.
  1. Fulmer still likes to act like he is the head coach. He meddles into everything from basic practice to game planning, personnel etc. Pruitt is sick of being micro-managed.
  2. There are three factions in coaching staff:
    1. Tee and Jay are Fulmer's boys and they act very much like it too. Tee in particular acts like he is above head coach and has been cause of a lot of friction with in staff.
    2. Pruitt, Friend, Nerdimeyer, Weinke are in another camp. Tee and Jay particularly dislike Nerdimeyer
    3. Derek Ansely, Chaney and Shelton Felton generally stay away from these groups.
  3. Ansley has a weak personality and deflects any pressure to Pruitt. Lacks leadership.
  4. Pruitt micro-manages the offense through Chaney while Tee tries to run his own stuff. Chaney is very disengaged and even does not run a lot of meetings. He was not like this in his previous stunt here. He just stopped caring.
  5. Shelton Felton, Osovet, Brambaugh etc are/were good coaches who are just caught in amazing dysfunction. Brambaugh got fired because he was tired of Pruitt dissing DL all the time and he got into heated argument with Pruitt a lot.
  6. Tee tells people around him that he will be HC here someday and he will run this place like Belichik runs Patriots.
  7. Pruitt will be forced to let go of his guys (Friend gone, Nerdeimeyer and Weinke next). Tee will likely be Co-OC for 2021. Pruitt is fed up with Fulmer and would be happy to take his buyout and leave.
  8. Fulmer has a lot of boosters support and Pruitt still feels like outsider.
  9. Team is completely divided.
The amount of dysfunction and politics at UTAD is disgusting. Fulmer is root of it. Pruitt does not have the personality to be a HC who can handle all this and Tee is an opportunist who is waiting his turn fueling the infighting.
1, 4, 5 and 9 are laughably false.

I haven't heard anything like 6, but Tee knows if Pruitt gets fired, he's not sniffing the HC job.

The name is spelled Niedermeyer.
Exactly what I’ve been hearing from people the last week. And the guys I talk to tend to know. Unbelievable the mess and little wonder we were 3-7. I had no idea it had gotten this bad but I checked out honestly early in the season.
