Jarvis Giles

It seems to me like Giles committing would have a big impact on his position. In his press conference, Kiffin said something to the effect of "what better way to interview people than to watch them recruit in person." The four staff members he maintained are doing on the job interviews right now, and if we land Giles (assuming Drayton has a big part in it, which it sounds like he will), I imagine that will make him look very promising to coach Kiffin.

Let's not forget he is interviewing for a COACHING position, not just another recruiter.

Just re-capping what I heard. I'm not saying that will have all the bearing on whether or not he gets hired, but Kiffin said that he would interview them via how they recruited. Thus, I think it's safe to say that a successful recruitment = a successful interview and can only help his standing.

Giles has been his only commit this year, that's far from a superstar recruiter.

My B-- I was thinking about Scott.

I didn't realize either that Rivals actually has Oku rated higher than Giles

I need to rewatch some tape!

Not really. Kiffin may have helped save him... but the only reason for the decommit was he thought Drayton wouldn't be retained.

Oh, I see. Well, Kiffin is giving Drayton a chance to earn his position on the UT staff. That seems fair to me.

If he thinks he is good enough to beat out Oku, Poole, Hardesty, and Creer, then Giles will come. If he doesnt, then he is USCe bound.

With Drayton dropping in on him, I say that bodes pretty well for our chances as well as what Kiffin thinks of Drayton as a recruiter.

Jarvis Giles has dropped us(Nebraska) from his list and is now down to South Carolina and you guys(Tennessee).:shakehead: Man I actually thought we had a chance at this kid. Oh well

To be honest, i don't think you're missing much. I watched his highlight video, and I wasn't that impressed. I liked how he hit the hole quickly, but other than that, he just ran faster than the highschool defenders.

To be further honest this is a back we might be glad we get if it pans out. We're certainly not used to a back that hits the hole fast, barring Hardesty at times. If Kiffin truly runs a pro style offense he would be huge in play action when the defense at much of the time is on it's heels.
