Why is it so hard for ppl to look up Ole Miss’s history and notice that they have only won 10 games 4 times in their history and understand that Freeze was one of those coaches and he did it during an era of Saban and others in the SEC west of all places..what mental gymnastics do our fans have to get over for them to understand that what he did at Ole Miss has hardly ever been done in their history??

Flashback 3 years and this board was doing the same to Mullen. He took Miss St to a #1 ranking even if it was brief. Since then he’s had 10 win seasons and started knocking on the door to the playoffs at Florida.

I’m not scared of anything. At some point the football program in Knoxville is going to have to start being professional. At some point they have to do things the right way.

If you can’t secure an actual proven grownup to be your head football coach, then the responsible thing to do is avoid a search that leaves you scrambling and ending up hiring someone you aren’t in love with.

THAT’S what has happened the last two times. The search was mismanaged and became public, the job started looking toxic, and we had to settle for unqualified guys that we ALL had to do mental gymnastics to talk ourselves into believing the hire was a good one.

I’m not scared of the media, but the odds of hiring a good coach diminish rapidly once negative momentum builds in a search.
So again, i ask do you just quit trying? This one hasn’t worked out so just keep him in charge? Even the worst ran Companies or teams eventually get it right.

As would most teams, including UT. If UT had better QB play against UK, the dominoes would have fallen a different way. It's hard to win when your QB is helping your opponent score.
Ive seen it alluded to a few different times that something happened with Pruitt over the summer, can you allude to or give us a hint of what that may have been. BTW, thanks for everything you bring here.

Honest question, are there any candidates out there you would rather not come and keep Pruitt over?

I am having trouble finding any at this point, though I am sure there are some.

Kevin Steele, Tee Martin, Justin Fuente etc. not because they couldn’t do just as good but because at the end of the day you’re stuck with another mediocre coach. There is no hope in a hire like that.

Yes and second half adjustments just ain't his thing.

Or as I have suspected they serve beer and mashed potatoes at halftime.

SC was Kiffin's dream job, and it was an unlikely chain of circumstances that dropped that job in his lap. He was excited to go back to LA, Layla definitely wanted to go back to LA and neither of them regretted it. It was the way he left UT that really set people off, but that was a younger, brasher Kiffin. IDT Kiffin would be the choice this year... but he's been humbled. He speaks highly of UT-- but it's generally best to keep moving forward.

I respect all that you add to this forum, but I disagree on this one. I think of all the candidates out there, he is the most likely to be able to make us another Alabama/Clemson type program. He has seen it all, and coached at the highest levels.

I don't know that much about them, but I am sure that Campbell, Freeze, Briles are good coaches, but I think they lack in some areas. Campbell, I don't think has been anywhere near SEC football. So, there would probably be a big learning curve. Freeze and Briles have had their scandals, and that would likely follow them around everywhere they go. I would also be more concerned with Freeze that he would eventually end up in another recruiting scandal at some point.

It is hard to believe, but Lane Kiffine is only 45 - yes 45 - years old! He has a lot of coaching years ahead of him, but he has the experience of being an NFL coach, a coach at 2 SEC schools, he coached in the recruiting hot bed of Florida, and he has coached with Saban at Alabama.

Let's bury the hatchet, and start killing other teams! Just don't bring back Orgeron with him. That is one guy that I thought did us the dirtiest when they left.

Dear Coach Fulmer, BOT, and very rich people,

We are sad. Our Vols have been irrelevant since you were canned (I was against that decision). The morale here is low. @Bassmaster_Vol has started a Hugh Freeze cult. You have to freeze your nipples to a metal pole to get in. @nicksjuzunk no longer has the desire to predict the future in his game week threads and tried to harm himself by following a diet of torture and misery. Even his pet cobras have stopped biting. And wait til you hear about our beloved @Ron Swanson. The sunshine is gone. The man that could find a rainbow in septic tank, can find no joy. Please give us back our Ron!
All we ask is that you find a coach and staff that will never lose another game for all eternity. Is that really too much to ask?

Please send help!

Signed,
VolNation

Yeah, but it would take a Bahama John level effort to sink so far that you would have to hire one.
