I like that fact that they are looking. That alone gives me hope and I am glad they are going about it a different way this time instead of the circus we went through 3 years ago.

They're always doing temp checks. It's backchanneled through search firms, who talk to agents and find out who's happy, who's looking, who's open, who's not and what it would take to get someone to move. Intermediaries do things UT cannot and agents say things coaches won't. It's always a shortlist at the top, then tiered. The past four hires have been made for different reasons. Kiffin was shortlisted, but UT had to go pretty far down the list for Dooley and Pruitt.

My point is, don't get sucked into the whole thing again. Yes, it's fun and some of the best times on this site but we can't take anything seriously until there is an opening. Even that is still in limbo. Will Phil kick JP to the curb or not. No clue. We don't look good as a team so I think a change is warranted but until I see headlines that JP is gone, I will keep my powder dry. All this other stuff looks exactly like the 2 searches before, just with different names. Would Hugh crawl to Knoxville for the job? Maybe, but right now JP would help him up, show him the facilities and take him to the bus station so he could go back home.
I think people enjoy getting sucked in. It makes it more fun. Most of probably know, deep down, that the titanic nutkick is coming, but we are still going to enjoy the journey until that inevitable realization dawns.

Seems to me that if we went after Mullen early he’d be here. Bahama John enjoyed the game.

So we are still in the "toxic" stage as a school? Is that way none of the better coaches don't want to come here?

Speaking of Kiffin...🤔

This JG attachment has been inexplicably narrow-minded. I've watched HB since he was a middle-schooler. He trained and camped with a kid I know, so I've seen him grow as a QB. And I watched JT practice last year. Both have a higher ceiling than JG-- but both have been backseated. There's no reason for UT to be in the position we're in with the roster we have.

Lost an important person to me to COVID today.

I know we joke around here a lot, and you guys give me a hard time sometimes, but I really appreciate the welcome distraction from some very tough times.

My piece of advice: wear your mask, and call that family member you’ve been thinking about. You’re not too busy. It’ll be worth it.
Truly sorry for your loss. Prayers and thoughts for all who knew your friend.

You left one out there...

I have as much fun reading all the stuff as anyone but there are some out there that seem to buy this stuff, hook, line and sinker. I'm not trying to rob someone of good times, but there are some delusional people around here.

Freeze, it's so easy.

I get everyones worried about his time at Ole Miss and his ability as a coach, but don't yall think it will be easier to win in the east as opposed to the west?

I don't think he had top 15 talent at Ole Miss before he started getting in trouble.

We have that talent to offer. Where I'm trying to go with this is he won't have to cheat or any of that grimy stuff he did while at OM.
If you’re going to win the SEC you have to cheat, plain and simple. Unfortunately Freeze is bad at it, which is the whole issue with him being hired.
