Liberty has played the 108th hardest schedule in the country this year. Their opponents combined record is 22-58 and half the teams they played didn't even win a game this year. Liberty being 7-1 isn't really that impressive.
Liberty has been playing div 1 football for three years and he beat VT and nearly beat NC state. That’s impressive.

I hope so, but we said similar in 2017/2018. I'm losing faith when I see a badly losing team and we proclaim the team has talent. We need someone that can develop this team ASAP or else they will go the way of the 2015 and 2016 talent...wasted.

If we let this charade go on another 12 months we'll land a 2017/2018 type class and officially dive into full rebuild afterward.
The problem has always been 90% coaching 10% talent deficiency. I would argue 100% coaching. Exhibit A: Arkansas

Freeze is basically Mullen 2.0. One likes hookers while the other is just weird af. Freeze would be successful here but he's got similar strengths and weaknesses. I think his ceiling is higher than Mullen's but so is his risk ratio/floor.

Yall are nuts for wanting to hire Gus
Just the other day we were talking about 'just wanting a coach who can get us 8-9 consistently, and then rotate up to SECCG and maybe playoffs when we have the QB' ...Gus could definitely do that in the East. He's not my first choice, but I would be very excited about that hire. He checks a lot of boxes. He never got the respect he deserved at Auburn imo and maybe because of that he goes into his next job with even more to prove.

I think that’s what I am getting at - no perfect hire. And that’s okay.
No perfect hire, but a lot of really good ones with the potential to be great imo. I like the ultra successful P5 guys. That was Urban at one point. Its a crap shoot really. You never know what guy is going to be the next great until he gets his shot. A couple guys give you more comfort as far as what their floor might be, but you never really know which coach is the one to take you to the top.

Gus behind Campbell. Chadwell shouldn't even be on the list.
I’d take Chadwell over Gus. Gus is a proven failure. Chadwell brings hope for something bigger. But it won’t get that far. You won’t get past freeze if you offer, but if you don’t want Freeze, Napier would come here and I’d take him over Gus too

Gus
Freeze
Campbell
Briles
Richt (if healthy and interested)
Napier/Chadwell

I value SEC success and other than Meyer, Gus is the most successful SEC coach available right now.
