I threw his name out while 2017 was still happening to us. By the time we were officially looking for a new coach, Taggart had made the jump and Oregon snapped. Looking back at it, I was pulling a Kingston because he was a fail at FIU and the best of his resume was as a top assistant at Miami and (ughh) Bama. Now he’s a legit “homerun hire” and all that affords. Amazing how FICKELL this business is.You been reading my list? Personally, I'd take Cristobal in a heartbeat and cry tears of joy.
But it makes me suspicious when you throw his name out there. I don't like that feeling.

You do you Hank. Just glad af that Fleck won’t be here. I know you can’t speak in absolutes but he’s about as absolute as you can get that he won’t be here. Thank God.WMU before Fleck: 5-7,6-6,7-6,4-8
Fleck: 8-5, 8-5, 13-1 (24-16 wisc)*never won double digit games in program history.
Post fleck: 6-6, 7-6, 7-6
UM before Fleck:
3-9, 6-7,8-5,8-5, 9-4
Fleck: 5-7,7-6,11-2, 2-3so far. (Beat aub in outback bowl) last 10 win season was 2003)
Played at NIU, short stint in the NFL with 49ers. Was the recruiting coordinator for NIU for one season and in that season NIU brought in Jimmie Ward who started for the 49ers for a while. As WR coach as Rutgers he signed a NfL WR in Leonte Caroo. Schiano took him to Coach in the NFL.
He’s as proven as any coach we could possibly hire. Just Bc he uses a slogan (like 95% of coaches do) doesn’t mean he’s anything like butch Jones at all. Trying to go polar opposite personality of butch landed us a middle school gym teacher who can barely speak English
Not too far away with you on this, but Butch played football too...in high school and college.Wow that’s so much disrespect for Fleck.
Fleck knows who he is and doesn’t care if it’s corny. He’s a confident dude and it’s why his players always end up buying into the perceived cheesiness.
Oh, and he actually played football as opposed to being in the band.
I like Napier too. I never buy into to the southern recruiting ties stuff. It’s been proven time and time again that it’s not needed. Urban meter, James Franklin, Dan Mullen, nick saban etc.I still like Napier better, bc of the previous post about his recruiting connections in the south.
I know no one want to hear McElwain. He won the east twice. I know GA wasn't what they are now, but they were pretty decent. TBH, I don't think they would get that far down the list. But if look at this from a risk perspective, his resume is better than Napier. Turned around Dumpster fire at Co. State. Turned around Dumpster fire at Central Michigan. Got railroaded out of Florida, not because he was terrible, but because they thought they could get Kelly or Frost.
Our former DC is a “pipe dream”?Terrible history of hires. I guess the question is, does Phil get to make a unilateral decision here? I don't think so. I just don't think Phil can trot out a coach who just went 2-14. I would see Fuente much more likely than Marrone. Overall, I think if the decision is to move on from Pruitt this year, then it would only get greenlit if they was a "strong" candidate that most of the powerbrokers could get behind. So to me that eliminates alot of the lower tier McGoogles (Holiday, Chadwell, etc.). We ain't hiring Freeze or Art Briles. I think the list of "strong" candidates after that is very short (removing pipe dream candidates of Urban, Shoop, Petersen).
People were literally buying painted bricks to support butch. LolWinning is all that matters. If Butch won big, the slogans wouldn't matter. If Pruitt won big, the redneck Bama thing wouldn't matter. Dabo is corny as hell, and off putting to me personally, but if he was here and won like he has, we would eat it up.
Just win. I don't care what kind of personality the coach has, what their past or background is, or what they do in their spare time. Just win. So sick of losing and being an afterthought.
You and Kingston doing the ole turf war?I know no one want to hear McElwain. He won the east twice. I know GA wasn't what they are now, but they were pretty decent. TBH, I don't think they would get that far down the list. But if look at this from a risk perspective, his resume is better than Napier. Turned around Dumpster fire at Co. State.
