Yeah, outside of Freeze I have been pushing Napier on here. He was recruiting coordinator at Clemson under Bowden. One of his brothers is at LaGrange right? He had been a good QB coach, and WR coach, a good OC and a good HC.
Yes, Matt is HC at LaGrange, think he went 8-4 this year.

Jimbo is a proven coach

We like to hope we have a guy that turns into a coach ... news flash... we’re on the verge of coaching search number 3.

Give me a guy with a proven track record. I’ll be more patient because I have proof in his resume that he will get things fixed.

Give us another experiment and first sign of failure we will hate them.
Agreed, whoever it is, has to be someone who has won at a comparable level before.

The biggest thing for Gus is he seems to not be able to find/develop a QB. He had Nick Marshall that first year and since then I guess Stidham is the only decent QB. He's landed tons of highly rated guys and the seem not to be good nor improve.

I would probably give napier a chance, too. Not really excited about napier, campbell or chadwell but I would give them a chance. Fickell? I'd be happy with that. Freeze is the best option tho. They probably won't even consider him. Absolute madness

I think Freeze would do well, but my honest opinion for a candidate?

Mario Cristobal

State of TN talent is getting better, fast, but UT still needs to rely on getting OOS state guys to fill a class. He would add a huge pipeline to Fla talent and most importantly, S Fl talent, He has proven he can build a program back up as well. Does well in the PR realm, has developed talent at Oregon, Sewell will be OL 1st rd pick. so he checks 4 boxes off the top. He wants back in the south, so check #5?
Stays at Oregon until the Bama job is available.

I DO

And the reason why is there is more than smoke billowing out of Auburn this morning that Gus is getting fired. IF they do, I’m sure they’ve already talked to the SEC office about if Freeze is allowed back in but the name that has already been mentioned that has expressed interest, is Mario Cristobal. He wants to come back to the south and away from the ‘left’ coast.
Nah He's holding out for Bama in a couple of years.

I think just looking at records at who beat who can be misleading to a point. I want to know:
1) Do they let the players play? Current staff has players either confused or afraid to make a mistake and as a result they play hesitant with their feet set in concrete.
2) Personality. Are players drawn to them and will they run through a brick wall for them (sorry, but this rules out Malzahn and Harbaugh).
3) Adaptability. Are they so hard headed and convinced they have all the answers they can't see the forest for the trees and make adjustments. This rules out Herman and has killed Pruitt.
4) How do they practice? Only people they have been around can answer this. Pruitt puts too much of his evaluations on practice performance and not game performance.
There are others. But comparing records is often apples and oranges.

Marrone, if it’s Phil that has contacted his “target”

Sounds awful, but I don’t have much faith in Phil to get the right guy. If he can’t put aside his differences with the best candidate on the board, I have zero faith.

I’d love to have him

Then the fanbase needs to quit b*tching and moaning and accept a CEILING of 8-4 and be ok with a typical 7-5 / 6-6 for the long term. It’s gonna take us a HOMERUN hire (Campbell and Fickell are not in that group). Can’t finance another “hope and prayer” based on success at a smaller school. They’ll bring their no-name scrub staff that won’t make a dent in recruiting in the SEC and we’ll continue our descent.
Ryan Day and Lincoln Riley fit that homerun hire thingey?
