Has Deep ties in Ga. His dad is a HC legend in N Ga, coached decades at Murray County. His brothers also coach including talent rich SWGA. So, he would have ties to GA from the north to the south so he could possibly return UT recruiting in Ga back to the Fulmer days of getting elite guys from the state.

Billy was actually born in TN and raised in N Ga, has a nice coaching Rolodex from his stops from Clemson, Bama all the way to AZ State so he knows quite a few.

What about the idea he’s a “Saban guy” and wants to follow the Saban model? Last thing I want is a copycat... I liked him as my first choice (after Freeze) until I heard that.

67-35 overall, 38-26 in the SEC. One national championship appearance, one SEC title, two division championships.

vs.

39-25 overall, 19-21 in the SEC. Never finished higher than second in the division.

Only on VolNation.

I'm afraid they might trot out one of Kingston Vol's choices.

I think Pruitt should get another year because this rebuild was always going to take 4 seasons. But i also think hiring a HC this year will be much easier this year than it will be next year when the market is flooded with firings.

so I’m conflicted.
Going into year 4 we should have been preseason favorites with UF and UGA next year for the East, instead we will be fighting to stay out of the basement with Vandy and South Carolina. He'a got to go.

Freeze or a big proven name or I'm out. I would be happy with fickell. I would stick around and give campbell a chance. Probably would give chadwell a chance too. If we keep pruitt or hire the same type of coach we are used to, I'm out. I'll buy ole miss gear and jump on the Lane train. Probably follow wherever freeze goes. You guys should do the same. You're telling the program it's okay, if you continue to support them even tho they wont put the vols in the best position to succeed. I'll come back once they get it right. I refuse to enable them any longer.

One is at a destination job, with top 10 talent, and is about to get fired after another mediocre season. He also lost to jeremy Pruitt and Jarrett Guarantano

The other was at Vandy west and currently has Liberty at 7-1 with a win over your boy Fuente!

Only you think there’s a real comparison here. Get out.

He was with Saban like 4 years or something. He was at Clemson with Bowden and Swinney much longer. Maybe he didn't get doomed with that Saban assistant curse. Ha.

Auburn> ole miss and it isn’t close

Also add in the fact that he’s proved he can’t sustain the ceiling of success at a program

I’ll take gus glady but let’s not act like He’s superior to freeze

If you had to guess who the “target” is that SwanMan is talking about is, what would you say?

I’d think either Campbell or Malzahn.

Marrone, if it’s Phil that has contacted his “target”

Sounds awful, but I don’t have much faith in Phil to get the right guy. If he can’t put aside his differences with the best candidate on the board, I have zero faith.

I don’t know. The SEC West is the best it’s ever been and Gus has at least always kept them competitive. Put it this way: I don’t think Hugh Freeze would take Auburn to any greater heights than Gus has.

True. I like him and outside of Freeze, he’s my choice. He checks all the boxes for me as long as the offense is prolific. I don’t know much about his strength as a coach only what I’ve seen him do everywhere he’s been. How similar is he to Urban when he left Utah St for Florida?🤔

a Freeze/Kiffin stan

You’ve certainly got a type. Guys with questionable morals and mediocre SEC coaching records.

@secking Would you compare Napier coming to TN to when Urban left Utah St for Florida? I haven’t looked but are their records similar up to that point? I like the Clemson mode better anyway.

Herban had an undefeated season and a BCS bowl and had also done well at Bowling Green, but he was only at each school for 2 years I believe.

Jimbo is a proven coach

We like to hope we have a guy that turns into a coach ... news flash... we’re on the verge of coaching search number 4

Give me a guy with a proven track record. I’ll be more patient because I have proof in his resume that he will get things fixed.

Give us another experiment and first sign of failure we will hate them.

I don’t mind Napier but I’d definitely pump the breaks on that. Could be very wrong though...
