MAny here would have fired him last year as he only went 7-5.

Ive seen a number of posters say that by year two 8 wins was the floor here. Surely They would say the same about A&M
That was only his 2nd year and 7-5 isn't a disaster

We have heard a loss today seals Pruitt’s fate.

But what about a close win? What if we pull out a TD or FG win that is close well into the 4th qtr? Pruitt still safe?

Likewise, every now and then I like to ask people about Harbaugh.

Excluding this year, he won an average of 9.4 games per season across 5 seasons.

Michigan paid A LOT for him, but he pulled them out of the crapper at least.

UT is in worse shape than Michigan ever was.

So I ask, if given the option... you can be guaranteed Harbaugh at say, $7M per year or risk a coaching search, which do you choose?

Good hire? What about recruiting?
Has Deep ties in Ga. His dad is a HC legend in N Ga, coached decades at Murray County. His brothers also coach including talent rich SWGA. So, he would have ties to GA from the north to the south so he could possibly return UT recruiting in Ga back to the Fulmer days of getting elite guys from the state.

Billy was actually born in TN and raised in N Ga, has a nice coaching Rolodex from his stops from Clemson, Bama all the way to AZ State so he knows quite a few.

What is it exactly that people like about Gus? Don't get it. He loses 4-6 games a year since 2014 and is 2-5 in bowl games. He had one great season as a HC, his first. Everybody has since adapted to his simplistic O. Overpriced for Botch type performance (minus his last season) IMO. Steele was as much responsible for his winning as anything. There are really good reasons Auburn regrets signing him to that crazy deal.

I think getting Cristobal and Campbell are pipe dreams. Would obviously take either one if they would. I am sold on Napier in the second tier list, like USCe was on Beamer. I have no idea what his upside is although I suspect it is strong. I know he can deliver the 8-4 and better that everybody seems happy with on here. I'm even good with Chadwell, though I think he needs more seasoning. At least he has the sharp offensive mind and state ties. He and Napier know what it means to be from this state.

But it still comes back to Freeze. It's so easy and we all know UT will mess it up.
He would be a disaster. Another Kingston special

I think Pruitt should get another year because this rebuild was always going to take 4 seasons. But i also think hiring a HC this year will be much easier this year than it will be next year when the market is flooded with firings.

so I’m conflicted.

A 4 year rebuild to what? To win the SEC or at least play in the title game? I guess.

It doesn’t take 4 years to be competitive. We’re not.

Pass on Harbaugh, not a cultural fit in the South, at all. He gets a few recruits from the south but would be a disaster in most living rooms.

Pro tip: if Secking is rooting for us to hire a particular head coach, we should stay away from him at all costs.

Everything is fluid. Anyone that says otherwise is talking out of their arse.

I saw where price said 90% he would be back next year.... lol like what does that even mean? Just say you don’t know or there’s too much left to play out to make a call.

Haha, why do you say that? You know I root for you except one game a year. I didn’t say you should hire Billy, but think he could do well there.

I just think you need a bigger name than him.

I would gladly take Harbaugh. Michigan is a gassed up program much like Nebraska now. They don’t have the elite behind the scenes stuff to really compete with Ohio state and other top tier programs so idk why they demand to beat them.

Yeah, outside of Freeze I have been pushing Napier on here. He was recruiting coordinator at Clemson under Bowden. One of his brothers is at LaGrange right? He had been a good QB coach, and WR coach, a good OC and a good HC.
