"Chadwell was a big Tennessee Vols fan growing up and went to several games with his father, Jim, a former middle school and high school head football coach in Tennessee. Jamey Chadwell named his son Jameson Heath after former Vols and NFL quarterback Heath Shuler, who later served as a state representative in North Carolina. "

"His teams run the spread-option offense that some have deemed “quirky and funky.” The offense uses one- and two-back sets and uses old-school option concepts but is run mainly out of the shotgun. "

Napier should be available next year...he had some high level demands for SC that you only make if you are comfortable in your current spot. Doesn’t seem like he is willing to take any Power 5 job just because it’s a Power 5 job.
He wants UT and didn’t want USC.

Virginia Tech would literally pay UT to take Fuente. VT is ready to move on from him once they get their guy this year or next lined up. He has not gotten over the hump at the P5 level, but a good coach and needs to go back to G5.

He is not Tennessee quality. He's better than Pruitt but worse than Butch.

I don't agree that he is worse than Butch. He did not ride coattails at Memphis. However, you could argue he couldn't get it done VT, who plays in the weaker division of the ACC, he just has a .587 win % there, so why would anyone think he could get us over the hump against GA and FL? So bottom line, he's probably better than Butch, but one could argue Butch could have had similar results had he been in ACC. So this versus the unknown of Napier, Chadwell, or even Harsin. Who could all turnout to be Fuente in 3-5 years. I'd make an offer to Bronco Mendenhall before Fuente. I am trying to make a list of recent P5 coaches who "failed" at one P5 school but went on to find success at their next P5 gig. Mack Brown, Richt (for a couple of years), Paul Chryst. Short list.

I know Chadwell beat Napier head to head, and I’ll be interested to see what happens in the rematch, but I kinda like Napier more. He’s had more sustained success at a program that was not very good before he got there. 11 wins at Louisiana-Lafayette is impressive and he’s followed it up with another great season. Coastal Carolina, meanwhile, has been pretty solid since it was established and it’s just one season. I don’t know, for some reason I feel more comfortable with Napier. Maybe I’ll feel differently if Chadwell beats him again.

IMO, Phil loves TN more than anything. Except Phil’s legacy. He loves his legacy more than anything other than his family and he has to realize that if he keeps Pruitt around, he will not be remember as the guy to who brought TN back, rather he’ll be the guy who made the worst coaching hire in the history of the school. And I have to feel that no matter what he says publicly, he knows Pruitt is bad and a change has to be made. He also realizes he can’t take a risk at another miss because this will be his last as well as his biggest opportunity to make this hire. That being said, I believe he’s already called 2-3 behind the scenes and has an idea of where he wants to go. Even possibly has a guy lined up. To me, if that’s true, the people he’s talked to probably aren’t talking on radio or putting themselves out there so blatantly. They are keeping a low profile waiting to get word.

Or Phil really does believe Pruitt is amazing and is going to go down with this hire in 4 more years once we’ve had the first ever winless season.

One of those 2 scenarios seem likely. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I think our hospital is getting the Pfizer one too.

So go ahead and get the vaccine. If you start to turn, let me know and I won’t get it. 🤠

Actually, I am going to get it. I have too many high risk family, friends and patients. I would hate myself if I was the one that got them sick.

Here’s a philosophical question: if I turn into a zombie, will I feel bad about biting and turning all those same people? 🤔

Live viral dna of sars from a dead animal. I’m out and if a loved one has a food allergy, it could kill them.

Y’all wanting the flavor of the month in Napier and Chadwell... I’ll see you back here in 4 years again as we have these same conversations because they haven’t gotten us to Atlanta. During all these coaching searches over the past decade or so and after everyone has lowered their expectations of a “successful” program (not going after a homerun, and no, Campbell is not on that HR list) I can’t think of any coaches that have been mentioned that would be successful maybe outside of Mullen (with his recent success at Florida). Removing the absolute homerun names thrown around on this board, every name would have us back where we’re at now in wanting a coach that can get us to AT LEAST Atlanta. If UT wants to truly compete then it needs a PROVEN P5 HC that has (1) beaten one of our big 3 rivals AS A HC, OR (2) been in contention for multiple playoffs AS A HC (won their conference multiple times), or (3) is a big name from the NFL (not named Marrone or O’Brien). Easy as that. If not, we just need to accept that 8-4 is our absolute CEILING, maybe sprinkle in a 9-3 once every 5-7 years. If y’all are ok with that being the bar then have at the bargain coaches. And money talks so don’t give me the “well, no one wants to come hear” excuse. We either want to compete with the top dogs or we don’t.
