I want to believe our administration is working towards a new guy but we haven't heard a peep which makes it very unlikely IMO. All of the chatter is moving assistants and aiming for a 1-2 win season next year
Exactly, I want a change to happen, but its not going to. Our admin just doesn't care.

It's my belief that if we were already putting feelers out to potential coaches we would know about it in the media.

The fact that we don't tells me that if we have to fire Pruitt we will be late to starting the search, which may not hurt too bad because Napier or Chadwell would take this job any time.

How many coaches have recently been asked about AND brought up the UT job and potential interest in it?

To me that says something...

Not to beat a dead horse, but here's what good teammates do

I couldn’t believe the VQ guys defending our oline for leaving the QB on the ground. Cox also got a couple late hits and no one did anything. Pruitt doesn’t inspire these guys to play for each other much less put them in positions to succeed

What a joke

This is like me saying to my company....”Hey boss, if you remember you asked everyone to take a pay cut this year and I declined and I’ve been totally incompetent for the last 6 months and done zero work. Well just so you know if you hand out a $500 Christmas bonus I’ll pass. By the way though if you fire me I want 4 years pay. Thanks and we’ll talk soon”

What is our goal at TN? What is reasonable?

All of us want to compete for championships. That's obviously the goal. But this also is reasonable for Tennessee. We are the second winningest SEC team in history. We have everything that ever other top school in the country does. The only thing that we lack is in state talent that matches up. But if you look at '22, even that is increasing. We have the same facilities, the same money, and even better tradition than schools like AU and GA. All we are lacking is a head coach.

At TN, our schedule is not that difficult. I know that we play in the SEC. But let's be honest, we play 3 guaranteed tough games a year: Bama, Ga, and Fl. Some years we will play 4 tough games if we get a tough West matchup with someone like LSU. And in a horrible year, we may have 5 if we draw a tough west opponent plus schedule someone OOC like an OU rather than a Pitt or a VT. With that schedule, in most years 9-3 at least should be the expectation at TN, and that's with losing to the top 3. A bad year would be 8-4, and that's with losing to the top 3 plus the tough west matchup or the tough OOC. And a disaster year would be 7-5 and that's losing to everyone of those.

This is not that hard. We will recruit a roster more talented than 75% of our schedule. As long as our coach doesn't screw it up, 8 wins should be the floor unless its a really bad year and we go 7-5. This is a reasonable expectation for TN. Literally any head coach who is even decent, average, can do that here.

Now, some will scream, "but we aren't doing that and that means that isn't true!" No, we haven't had good coaching. We hired a guy who would have done that in Kiffin. He bolted. We panicked and hired a guy that we had no business hiring, and we began to bury our program. Since Kiffin, we have hired guys who should have never been interviewed at TN, let alone given the job. Now, I understand the Pruitt hire, thanks to Currie, we had three options, Pruitt, Tucker, or Steele. This board was basically unanimous for Pruitt at the time and, tbh, I thought he had a shot to be a good coach. He still does, he just isn't ready yet.

But just because we've made 3 bad hires following Kiffin does not mean that we shouldn't still expect to find a coach who can give us what we are looking for. We are asking for 9-11 wins a year with a chance to win it all if everything goes right with the right QB, or if everything goes wrong 7-5 at worse. That isn't hard to do.

Hugh Freeze brings that now. Right now. We hire him and next year we are no worse than 7-5. I really believe that. I think we'd actually have a shot at 9 with him next year. Even if it is not Hugh, there are others who we could hire that would bring that. Campbell likely brings that, Fickell likely brings that, maybe even Sarkisain, Napier or Chadwell. We need to get serious and remember who we are. We aren't asking to be a dynasty. We are asking to be respected again. 9-11 wins every year brings that. Bring us that guy.

4 star WR from MO. Their offense is great and I don’t blame him for wanting to stay home and be a part of it. Wish we could sell something like that to recruits...

That's what kills me..
our worse position group is TE.. two of the top TE's in the country in our back yard and we don't land either of them
We need pass rushers - miss on Colson and Kollie both in state
Our secondary is garbage - did we even try with Turrentine?
Our offensive line haul is embarrassing - we have Parker coming in but Sutton and Pennington are both headed to the ACC
I just don't get it.. I understand there are probably better players in other states that we whiffed on, but lock down the state, especially when it comes to positions of need!

The years prior to his arrival at Syracuse were pretty bad, and he had his work cut out for him. He did have two 8 win seasons there and a conference title, which was essentially going from worst to first in his conference in year 4. He still managed to look pretty solid even in those losing seasons iirc.

There isn’t always a correlation between NFL failure and College success, but I feel the experience is still worth something.

I guess I’m giving him some bonus points too. Familiarity with Fulmer may contribute more to winning than all of us on this side of the office door realize. Also, I think all his experience would make him a good stabilizing force at minimum.

Meh...hasn't been in college in nearly a decade and Syracuse made a bad hire in Greg Robinson, but before him Paul Pasqualoni was winning 64% of his games there and had multiple 8 win seasons (7 total). Mind you this is when the program was still in the Big East.

I actually think his 1 season with TN may hurt him, he didn't stay long and that's not typical of Fulmer staffers...so makes me wonder if there is a good relationship or not.

Austin: “I mean uhhhhh you know I mean uhhhh you know they make a big deal about that one snap but what about the other uhhh 400 snaps that they didn’t help the QB up? I mean uhhh it’s insane. I mean uhhh it’s not that big a deal!”

If Pruitt is back all the preseason talk for the East will be UF or UGA to win the East and Missouri breaking out and being a dark horse (they return 8 starters on offense), it will be UK continuing to improve with Stoops and a new OC for them and Vandy and South Carolina with new coaches. We will be the ones with nothing to look forward to.
