Of course all anyone cares about right now is what is going to happen at season’s end. What will this staff look like moving forward? That’s the million dollar question for sure. One thing for sure is it won’t look like it does now.
Based on contracts if Tennessee accepts a bid to a bowl game, then the assistant coaches are set to get an 8.33% bonus of their salary. In talking to people, we believe the staff would turn down their bowl bonus if the Vols end up in postseason play. Pruitt also said this week there’s nothing new in regards to assistants take pay cuts.
Everyone but Jay Graham and Tee Martin refused to take pay cuts starting back on November 1st. Interesting in that there’s an amendment to Graham’s contract announcing the pay cut, but an amendment to Martin’s contract with the pay cut information has not been posted. Pruitt left the door open that there might be cuts when he said back in November that the final story hadn’t been written yet. This week he said it would be looked at after the season.
The bowl games we feel are most likely for the Vols would be the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa on December 26th, the Music City Bowl on December 30th and the Birmingham bowl on New Years Day.
