Y’all are tying your hopes & dreams to something we’ve known isn’t gonna happen. I dunno why we belabor this for weeks and get all butthurt when someone says something to put it to rest. There ARE other coaches and capable ones out there still yet.
You are correct. There are a few coaches that would be a good hire.... But we won't get them. That's a fact. It ain't gonna happen.

I mean the media is buzzing around UT candidates for a job with no vacancy already...

Also Hudson mentioned talking to Fulmer, the only reason an AD should ever be involved in recruiting is if there's about to be a new HC and they are trying to keep a class together for the new hire to have some traction when they arrive.
I'm not questioning you - I literally don't know what you're talking about. I know Chadwell had an interview with Basilio and I know Freeze is begging for anyone to talk about him. Has there been anything else?

Also, I guarantee you Fulmer was talking to Wolfe for the exact opposite reason you've laid out. "Jeremy's our coach next year." That doesn't mean we won't fire him, but he's not going to tell a 17 year old kid, "hey I'm firing the guy but don't tell anyone."

I dont follow.

the energy vampires who predate on negativity are out en masse. everyone on Earth is aware of our situation. why nag on it? (vampires, not you).

it changes nothing. if there were better slam dunk coaches we might make a move. but none of that matters since we still have a coaching staff.

We don't know what the admin is doing. No clue at all. The constant assumption of incompetence, don't want us to win, accepting of mediocrity, unwilling to spend money, etc, etc, is premature. We simply don't know. It may all be true, but only 6 games ago we were all feeling pretty good about where we were headed. Fulmer is not previous ADs, and Boyd is not previous presidents. Let's at least finish the season and get past ESD before we start assuming the worst.

DeerPark said Hugh Freeze will never be hired here. Even if or when Pruitt is fired. Freeze will never be the coach of UT. I get it the man has a checkered past. But it isn’t like he is Art Briles. This isn’t a Christian university where we have to have a perfect head coach. Do we care more about what the news will say if we hire him? I care more about winning. If True looks like UT can careless about winning. Of course we have known this for a while now.
I would welcome Hugh Freeze into my church. He is a repentant man. His wife has forgiven him. He coaches at a Christian university currently. There has been no scandal since his very public failure.

There is no reason that should eliminate him from being a football coach

It depends. If we go backwards from 9-3 to 8-4, you’re fine. But if you go from at best 8-4 to 4-8, then you got a problem.
Right, those are basically identical records.

You just can't do what Butch and Pruitt have done, because it gives the appearance you've lost your program. Need at least four solid years to prove you have a grip on things.

Larry was quoted a day or so ago that Pruitt was here for next year. Now, I hate that Larry is always so negative, bc nobody wants to hear the truth when it doesn’t fit their agenda. BUT, he’s right WAY more than he’s wrong. Obviously things could change, but Until he says it’s coming, my outlook remains dim.
larry is wrong more than right

Meh...hasn't been in college in nearly a decade and Syracuse made a bad hire in Greg Robinson, but before him Paul Pasqualoni was winning 64% of his games there and had multiple 8 win seasons (7 total). Mind you this is when the program was still in the Big East.

I actually think his 1 season with TN may hurt him, he didn't stay long and that's not typical of Fulmer staffers...so makes me wonder if there is a good relationship or not.

Yeah. All valid. I just think he would be a pretty solid hire. If I were AD, he would definitely be in my top group of candidates, but maybe toward the bottom of that group. If that makes sense.

Right, I absolutely think that's the plan as we sit today - Pruitt is back and they're going to let him try for the third time to hire an OC.

I guess I am just hoping it won't be that way at the end of the year. We know a loss to Vanderbilt is an unforgivable sin, and although I don't think we'll lose to them, if it's close and we come out flat, then get stomped by A&M, I think they may still pull the trigger.

You don’t have HAVE to accept it, just stay here and wallow in your pity and despair if you so choose. But crying about it isn’t gonna make Santa bring you a new HC this year.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this to a T

If Pruitt is back all the preseason talk for the East will be UF or UGA to win the East and Missouri breaking out and being a dark horse (they return 8 starters on offense), it will be UK continuing to improve with Stoops and a new OC for them and Vandy and South Carolina with new coaches. We will be the ones with nothing to look forward to.
And the offseason is our best season! And now they've even taken that away from us.

Nah, that's the only two I've caught wind of, still seems odd that we don't have an opening and both of them have been asked/talking about us. Since BOTH should be hot names based on what they've done where they are.

I feel the pain and I’ve done my fair share of complaining about Pruitt since things really started rolling downhill.

I’ve simply moved past that phase and into a phase of realizing that I personally can’t fire or hire coaches. So I’m in wait and see mode again bc I know he won’t be let go this year. And if he goes 8-4 next year I’d be willing to chalk up this season to being a F’n weird year.

I wanted to watch some highlights from this season today so i searched youtube - kinda hard to find to be honest :)

However, the game we played against Missouri was by far our best game of the year - first half, second half - play calling, defense, explosive plays, run/pass balance.

It was really beautiful to watch.

We took that momentum to the first half against UGA and then just FELL APART.

Never seen anything like it.
