You find yourself realizing there’s a lot more I life to focus energy on and spend money on. And a lot of it provides much better “return on investment” than the last decade+ of Vol fandom.I agree with what you said about the younger generation of fans. I've gotten to the point that I just record our games and watch if we win or delete if we lose. I've only watched the first two games this year. I really wanted to see Bailey and JT play last week but I'm not gonna deviate from my plan. I like the stress free weekends too much![]()
I think it's what Tennessee football needs. By my scientific calculations a simultaneous punch landed by those two would create a "rip" in time where the laws of physics cease. The Tennessee program would jump to an alternate universe where General Neyland developed the technology to clone himself. Obviously we have won every championship for the last 5 decades and have a 2,494 game winning streak. Saban, Urban and the gang all call him "Daddy".I am not sure the planet Earth could survive, it might be the end of humanity. Let’s hope this never happens!!
She headed straight for the sideline on that kickoff. I would imagine she has been given similar instructions.I posted this in Vandy game thread:
What happens if Sarah Fuller kicks a fg and it gets blocked, then we return the blocked kick, she is about to make the tackle and Jeremy Banks clocks her with a legal block? What happens to this feel good story?
Yes, I've been telling people the fan base is aging and younger fans are not replacing them at the rate we used to. Areas around Nashville used to be all Orange. Now I see just as much black and gold, crimson etc.... And in many cases more. We are at the precipice as you said. We are no longer the national brand we used to be. The numbers are dwindling.Something that @MetalVolunteer said earlier made me think of a similar trajectory.
My brothers and I grew up in the 70s and 80s in Knoxville watching the games on TV with my Dad - sound off with John Ward on the radio.
Though my younger brother joined the Navy, and I moved out of state, we both would make it back to Knoxville for at least one game each Fall. It was our pilgrimage.
When the games were on TV, we would call each other or would text furiously About the play by play.
In 2015 we both spent a LOT of money (to us) for good tickets, hotel rooms, restaurants, and travel to attend the Oklahoma game. It was awesome until it was soul-crushingly awful. I think that broke his fandom some.
I returned for a few more games since then - all losses. My desire to travel and spend that much money keeps going down.
What’s sadder is that my younger brother, who used to be as ate up with the Vols as me, doesn’t even watch the games anymore. He barely even keeps track of the season. I get it.
Here’s my @MetalVolunteer point - I think we are on the precipice of not only losing a whole slew of long-time dedicated fans to sheer apathy; but we also run the risk of completely missing out on reinforcements from younger generations. TN hasn’t done anything of merit in the entire life span of most teenagers and even college students.
I don’t want to sound overly hyperbolic, but this is a juncture where we can swing for the fences for a good rebound to national prominence or I truly believe that the death spiral will be fairly rapid and what’s so scary is - likely irreversible.
I didn't say that to mean that Chaney shouldn't be gone. If you are going to buy out Chaney, it should be because they are firing Pruitt and buying out everyone. I don't know why in the hell anybody would think anything would change with Chaney gone and having Mike Bobo as OC under Pruitt. What is the point of paying our existing coaches (not named Jay or Tee) for a crap product?
How much in buyouts have they spent on Pruitt's tweeking of the staff?
Twss.
That's one thing I wish I had some connections/insight into...when guys move from Job A to Job B, what is the consensus inside the coaching community about it. Do people think it's a good move, bad move, surprised that a particular person got a particular job, etc.All hearsay but one area he mentioned that was more clinical and not the Kiffin type gossip was the zero emotional intelligence /self awareness adaptability. linear thinker opinion. A to B doer not a strategic thinker/leader
