Context... Not condoning what he did but I'm pretty sure it was a pissing match by a handful of jackass "fans" who were bashing JG and Brian was trying to take up for him and it obviously went south.... I don't think he was trying to throw shade over the entire fanbase...
Never the less, he should've "bit his tongue"...
Perhaps he should have. I am sure there are a few angry fans contact them personally on Twitter. If I were a decision maker over there, I would discourage the players from getting on social media that fans can respond to. Instead, have a platform that only players can access and throw shade at each other. And we can link it to here or other sites. And if they prefer to have a peek? Up to them.
But still, a better way for these guys to respond is to find a way to win. I have long held the belief that in any team sport that victory is most often determined by which team wants it the most. Yeah in some cases, the officials blow key calls, and in others, the game plan has deficiencies. But that burning overwhelming desire to win is what overcomes adversity, pushes greater preparation, and gives a never say die attitude that makes all the difference. And it turns a group of different individuals into a cohesive determined team of men worthy of championships.
And while I can to a degree admire him standing up to the unposted comment that led to that response? The best way to stop these kind of messages from reaching their eyes is by getting their act together, and playing up to their potential. As long as they continue to fall short and play well below expectations? Don't expect fans to be supportive.
Personally, I am sick of coaches referring to players as kids. Last time I checked, every last one of them are over 18. Kidhood is at an end. If a war broke out, they could be drafted. If they break the law, they don't go to juvenile court, or get put in time out. Call them kids, coddle them like kids, and treat them like kids. Don't be shocked when they act like kids. Treat them as men, call them men, and put expectations upon them of men, and hopefully, they will act like men. And play this game like men.
