Jamey Chadwell (Coastal Carolina)

Excuse me, Herman?!?!?! LOL. The guy who has had Texas “back” like 4 different times but really they’re nowhere close to being back. Our fanbase is idiotic.

No. Give me just about anyone else.
Now say 10 Hail Nomars and 5 Our Pedros and Big Papi will forgive you... if not, I’ll get Varitek to smack you like A-Rod as payment.

He sure as **** pulled Texas out of the pit that Charlie strong put them in. Tennessee isn’t remotely close to Texas right now and advocating against a coach who could actually put the ship back on course and make Tennessee a competitive university again is stupid. Yes, you probably have to hire a new coach that’s a championship coach but that’s easier when you’re separating from a perennial 9 win team and coach opposed to trying to hire one after Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt have destroyed it.

Ok Mrs. Herman

How am I being a clown? By advocating against hiring a guy who can’t compete for championships at arguably the best job in the country?
Saban could not win championships at Michigan State either. So LSU and Bama should have never hired him?

Saban didn’t win titles at Michigan State. Are you seriously comparing the MSU and Texas jobs??? Sparty is a middle of the pack P5 job. Texas is arguably the best job in the country.

If he wasn’t from East Tn would people still want him? He’s done a good job at CC and has a lot of potential, but he needs to prove himself at another program before getting a top P5 job.
We are the stepping stone school now. No longer a top P5 job.

Herman was an improvement over Charlie Strong. He beat Georgia which we can’t do, and talking about idiotic... imagine having a glorified Manny Ramirez wannabe who went from the Red Sox to the dodgers as your avi.
I think you've kind of talked me into it. I mean, he wouldn't be my first choice. However, if we miss our top 4 or 5 (and we usually do), he'd certainly be an improvement over what we have. And we know he can recruit.

Herman sucks, but why on Earth would he leave Texas for Tennessee? The Big12 is a far easier conference. Texas is every bit the job Tennessee is and perhaps more. You can recruit solely the state of Texas and pull in top-5 classes every year if you’re good enough, and Texas boosters are even wealthier than ours.

We’re not going to out spend Texas for Herman, and if we were willing to do so we’d go use that money on an actually good football coach.

Why do we always start threads like this every time we might be looking for a new coach? Always a bunch of nobodies. DON'T MAKE A CHANGE UNLESS IT'S A PROVEN WINNER

I don’t think this scenario involves him WILLINGLY leaving Texas.

One schools trash is another schools treasure, just ask any Tennessee basketball fans and season ticket holders, Barnes was fired at Texas, Handsome Dave had just turffed his basketball hire, Donnie Tyndall, following missed NCAA major infractions at Southern Miss, Nike office in Dallas put a deal together, Handsome Dave had to write a big check to distract from his major blunder and the rest is history.

Otherwise, Tennessee would have never been in the running for a high caliber and accomplished basketball coach and would never have gone over $2 million (now $4 million) per season for those services.

Which would only further solidify my point that Herman is trash and would be a horrible hire because we're just picking up someone else's trash.

I know that's not what you're saying, I'm more referring to those defending Herman as some good hire.

I’d like to hire Freeze or Bob Stoops myself but I just don’t see us doing it. There are a 3-4 coaches out there that have built winning programs from nothing that I wouldn’t be upset if we hired.
I believe Stoops would be an interesting choice

There isn’t more to winning championships than record.
You don’t win the games without coaching. Butch had DeBord who was better than Helton or Chaney. Butch couldn’t technically coach himself out of a paper bag.

Freeze is my number 1 fwiw. I would put Herman number 2. He at least beats SCAR, Vandy, Kentucky, and Missouri year in and year out and has shown he can beat Georgia. You could absolutely do worse.
Except his best team lost to Arkansas and Memphis by 3 TDs

They actually pay someone to stand on the sideline w/water bottles to squirt into the players mouth?
I remember when I'd get my own water to drink.
Leave Butch Jones out of this . Everyone knows his responsibilities extend beyond squirting water into the players mouths . He also makes coffee, washes Mr. &Mrs. Saban’s fleet of Mercedes AND lights the victory cigars for all the players after our annual curb stomping by Alabama .

“Chadwell’s potential annual contract value, including all incentives met, places him atop the Sun Belt Conference and among the upper echelon of FBS. The deal also features a comprehensive commitment to the total football program including investment into assistant coaches and support staff, more robust incentive structure, and strategic investment toward key infrastructure and facility needs, specifically supported through private financial support.”
Jamey Chadwell has inked a contract extension at Coastal Carolina

I wonder if you'll start seeing this more. The game is seeing more parity- will some of these guys elect to stay at small schools and become legends, with less of the pressure and useless influence they'd be saddled with at a big school?
