Flame away, but I still like Coach Pruitt and think he can get things turned around with a normal offseason and the right coaching changes.

The one thing I just can’t make any sense of is the hiring/firing of Jimmy Brumbaugh. Pruitt had some comments along the lines of not interviewing him or any other candidates, just straight up offered him Co-DC and DL. That’s a hire you can’t **** up. If you believe that strongly in a guy, what could have gone wrong over the course of seven months to warrant firing him mid game?

I do think Jeremy is one of the most competitive coaches in CFB. Those of you saying he’s coaching like he wants to be fired or isn’t trying because he has a job on Saban’s staff are out of your mind. Imagine being regarded as the top of your profession and then fielding a defense as porous as ours. I bet he pours every ounce of energy this off-season into turning that unit into an elite force like we were beginning to see during the win streak last season.
Needs to drop Ansley like a hot pan if he plans on doing that. Ever since Ansley has had his fingers on that defense it has sucked.

His non-deleted university issued phone calling log history cost him his job.

You know better. His own arrogance cost him his job. He leaked to the media and told recruits that Houston Nutt was at fault for the allegations. The school and Freeze didn't care that Nutt was upset, which led to Nutt's lawsuit, which led to discovering the phone calls. Nutt was pushed out of Arkansas in a similar manner (except not an escort service) from calling a female numerous times. Nutt's attorney was looking at phone records around the time OM got the NOA from the NCAA and found one call to an escort service. Apparently Nutt didn't want it going public, but his attorney advised that it was imperative that it did. Those calls by Freeze may have never been discovered if they deal with the issue upfront.

There was way more to it than just phone calls. Nutt's lawsuit essentially ended with an apology, which is what he wanted all along.

A lot of people are saying we need to hire an offensive head coach. I don’t necessary agree with this. We can hire a defensive guy as long as he hires an innovative OC and doesn’t stick his nose into that side of the ball except for when to slow it down, pick up the pace or whether to go for it on 4th down ect...

Who then gets to replace said OC when he leaves for a better job or fails at it. Who knows what the next hire brings.

Go offense and install a system that outlasts the coordinators. The game the past 10 years has been about scoring with a 'contain to FG's' defensive philosophy. You cannot win with just defense anymore. The opposition O's are too good.

I’m not real sure it’s Ansleys fault tho. I think it’s more on CJP

No way man.

Your defense doesn’t regress that much if Pruitt is in charge I mean look at the DB progression..... how have our DBs overall started playing worse than they were the seasons before?

Vols were ranked #1 in the nation for a month that year and didnt make an elite 8. That’s choking in my opinion. Barnes also has a history of coming up short in the NCAA tourney with those Texas teams. Not saying he’s not a good coach, just calling it like I see it.

You can call it like you see it, but it's not choking. I am sure Texas is upset that he doubled their trips to the NCAAT in their history and went to their only FF in the modern era.

And they just weren't competitive at all - this team is at least competitive in the first half :) and these players for the most part pass the eyeball test.
Yeah I’ve been disappointed with our second half play.....

Until we can stop middle of the field plays we are going to continue to lose. Our LBs outside of Henry T are horrendous. Also, our safeties have big issues as well.

I’ve read every account of his story. Bad tweeting wasn’t the killer in any of them. We could keep volleying and returning serve and our positions wouldn’t change. I think he’s a homerun hire and would advance our program...and you don’t.

I just think Pruitt has tried to do way too much to fix things in the secondary and he’s gotten way too involved while attempting to do too much else. It’s one of those things that he’s just not cut out to be the CEO type coach. That’s more so where I’m going with that. Ansley is a proven solid DB coach. I just don’t think that he’s all to blame.
