Brian Maurer throwing shade on twitter

I like what he said. People on here that criticize these players each week, he is talking to you.
Gosh, didn't know his 3rd string QB arm generated the revenue that keeps the football program and university thriving  He is correct, it is his team for the few years he attends. JP not careful the team is gonna piss off the fan base. This isn't highschool, viewership and money make the world go round in college football.

Who cares. We lost 7 in a row by double digits. He will be gone next year anyway. I’m sure he will throw shade on everything and everybody in the next few weeks.

What an arrogant statement by a 3rd string Qb.

Are we sure of that? Or was this a response to one of those idiots that seems to think it's cool to message players and recruits they don't even know?

I don't know. I don't do social media. Maybe somebody can answer that question.

Oh please! I don’t agree with what he did or how he said it but the message is clear. He defending a teammate, himself, his coach and the program. Brian is a firecracker. He’s the “fire breathing dragon” that Chaney said we don’t have and he’s sitting the bench.

But, but, but...

...we don't have any affect on players or recruits! They have no idea what's happening on VN.com, or that other site. They don't know what the fans are saying. We're free to be divisive and negative and hateful and petty all we want, right?

Right?

Thank you, Brian Maurer, you just proved wrong every person on this board who claims what we say here doesn't matter.

It does matter. The lads are listening.

Be unhappy at a bad product, sure, but accept responsibility for HOW you show your unhappiness.

Stop the hate. Stop the pettiness. Grow up. Be mature. Provide critical observation and analysis, sure, of both coaches and players, but do it as if you were criticizing a loved one. Be measured and respectful in your criticism. Be fair.

The youth of our program are watching and considering carefully every word you say.
He responded to a tweet. You don’t even know if it was a TN fan who tweeted him. Take your moral superiority to Twitter and fix those degenerates.

Last week, several of you claimed that what we say here and in other fan forums make no difference, the recruits, players and coaches don't pay any attention to any of that.

Now, in this thread, with proof to the contrary courtesy of one of our lads, several of the same people are now saying, "screw him, he's a crybaby, who cares what he thinks anyway, he'll be gone soon, we fans are forever."

And that last bit is true: we fans are forever. And we will be sitting miserably on an ash heap 30 years from now, wondering when our program will be good again, accepting zero responsibility for having done our part to burn it down. Even though we're lighting matches and tossing them at our lads and coaches every single day.

Nah, none of what we do matters. Keep flamin' on.

It's just our football program.

Well, he is still 'on the team", and no one on this forum is. Maybe he has EARNED the right to say what he feels.

What we say HERE really doesn't matter. This is a medium 17-20 year old men don't use, understand, or desire to be on. Vol-Twitter is a very real monster however, as is Instagram...which are the mediums most use. My 21 year old football player doesn't even like to listen to sports radio. There is a generational gap you aren't grasping.

And most importantly...I see far less criticism of players, than I do of coaches, which at this level is how it should be.

both people were are fault in that twitter rant

no one should go after players
players are still kids who don't know when to control themselves

he also needs to understand the fans also put a lot of energy into the program... some for many many years... and we are just as frustrated as some players are, maybe more
Thay are NOT kids.

This is a dumb take
Guess he needs to be "saved" for 3 years and never play a big game.
Don't want him hurt or ruin him right?

I agree with him, but it’s not like I can make anybody do as I do.

Well it most certainly wasn't in response to Volnation.com.

I understand his frustration and see where he’s coming from. We also didn’t force him to move away from his family, that was his choice. However quite a few of us have definitely put in sweat and tears watching this product the last two decades and prior to that as well.

Most of us have some type of career to support our beloved Vols; If that’s shown by buying season tickets, merchandise, or donating back to the school. We may not participate in two a days or spring work outs but we certainly put in “work” to support this team in some shape or form.

He’s certainly entitled to his opinion; just as we are I’m in no way knocking the guy for voicing his frustrations.

It's the same degenerates, in all these places.

The most active Tennessee fans are (a) on these forums (this or the other site, or both), (b) on call-in radio shows, and (c) on twitter and facebook. We're all the same people.

Not everyone is on all three, but it's mostly overlap. Even if you're only on VN.com, that doesn't mean the guys to your left and right aren't on both, or all three, or all four.

So I _am_ addressing the fools in the Tennessee football part of the twitter-verse when I post here. And I'm addressing the folks who call in on 104.5 the Zone or the Knoxville stations or Finebaum. We're all here together.

Keep in mind, Maurer is a kid. I thought that I knew a lot when I was 21 years old too.

Maybe we should determine if this was an isolated response to some idiot or a universal message to the whole fanbase before people start trying to find where they stashed their pitchfork after their last mob outing....

Does anyone know for sure?
