He acted like this to six-figure donors his first year here. He is what he's always been. All those things people hate about him now have always been there. He can't juggle the many demands of the HC job, he isn't a great face of the program, he doesn't like fundraising or community events, he isn't great at personnel management, he's terrible at PR, he desperately needs delegation skills and he would be well-served to surround himself with the best people he can get and trust them do their jobs. Yet the players like him. Really like him. And so do the recruits.

All of this is the same in year 3 as in year 1. People are just over-the-top now at what's been there all along. And the red flags were there before he was hired.
If he cannot function as a head coach then he does not need to be a head coach. If UT knows that, has seen it for 3 years, has seen no improvement on that, then the decision is incredibly obvious.

This staff will play it off that they do not like the instate kids like they have done for most of the past 3 years.

I mean last year we snagged 6, but oddly enough of the 6 we grabbed Cooper, Omari, & Baron are the only ones who have seen real playing time. This year's group though there are 2 OLBs, 2 TEs, 2 OLs, 3 WRs, and a Safety....all positions we need to recruit.

Chadwell would kill it at vandy :(
I think so too... he's a young, energetic coach that's hungry and getting his 1st big shot at a SEC school. If this is true, then I can see Chadwell getting them back to how they were when Franklin was there. He could be a pain in our butts in a couple of years. His team this year is fun to watch and they play hard. I hate to say I'd be jealous of Vandy (gag), but if they get Chadwell, I will be. I like it when football is fun.

Yeah and I get that, but the coach directly making payments?

How often does this actually happen?

Maybe I'm ignorant when it comes to this stuff.
I'm not talking about him directly. I just think it's silly to say "recruits really like him." Butch recruits liked Butch. Dooley recruits liked Dooley.

It's how that relationship works.

To be fair, they only wanted Pennington and Colson. But at this point I'm not trusting their evaluations so...

If Notre Dame, Michigan, Clemson, Ohio State, and Georgia are willing to take these guys then we should be too. The two you mentioned though were the first two I would want to flip though. Positions of need, Size, and highly rated.

No, I've heard/read that a few times over the years but not so much recently. Specifically that he wanted to make UT a top 25 public university and some people said it would happen at the expense of football.

Almost everybody would like to make UT a top public university, especially in core disciplines like business. It takes more than money to do that. The Haslams have enough money to endow both academics and athletics. But the Haslams aren't even UT's wealthiest donors.

Bingo!

Keyword in all of this is “fun”. Jeremy Pruitt’s teams are not fun or interesting to watch which is the only unique thing about his program. Every Saturday I watch other football teams play hard and have at least a couple interesting plays. We do none of that.
