When decision makers follow the preferences of 16-18 year old young men rather than the judgement of mature adults, they can expect to reap the same results as parents who allow their children to run the household.
I respect the investment that the players put into our program; all of those who have done so over the past 120 years. However, they are here to be coached and led by men and women who can help them become better ballplayers and people. They are simply not equipped yet to have their preferences drive the direction of the program.
I want the players to like and respect the HC, but if they are the only ones that do, that should tell university leadership all that it needs to know.
Maybe you're thinking of Chancellor Bev? Jim Haslam was a team captain at UT and has always supported UT football.
That’s fine for one. But then you read on and on about Green, TID, Malone, Mims, Mondon, and the list goes on....
People were already clowning on the Vols circa 2010. When I went to school at MTSU I worked with a bunch of 20 somethings and it was just me and one other guy who were UT fans. Even back then we caught tons of crap about the program being terrible. That was 10 years ago and we still suck.
Folks are so wound up on a random Tuesday. Everyone should know that IF they make a change it won’t be done during the middle of the season. I don’t think Fulmer rolls like that. No one knows for sure about any of this but I’d bet it’s safe to say that there has been some contact behind the scenes gauging interest from probable suitors IF there is a change to be made.My point remains. Maybe not the foaming at the mouth but there's always a little drool.
In 2010, Tennessee was already approaching 10 years without a nationally relevant season. It's just gotten worse to the nth degree since then.People were already clowning on the Vols circa 2010. When I went to school at MTSU I worked with a bunch of 20 somethings and it was just me and one other guy who were UT fans. Even back then we caught tons of crap about the program being terrible. A few of those did commit silently to the staff. And we stunk it up and lost them.If they're not committed though, how are they being considered committs we're losing? I mean our **** season is going to prevent us from landing most those names, not sure any new coach hire will change that. Doesn't mean we should keep Pruitt though, but we've lost 2 and one was likely told he didn't have a spot anymore. So what LA said isn't wrong about the class stating solid thus far.
Isn't this a major sticking point with athletics right now? Big Jim wanted to de-emphasize athletics (i.e., being primarily a football school) and mold UT into a UVA-style school?
Yep. Pruitt is well-liked by his players, I have no doubt. The whole "players and recruits like him" thing is the weakest argument ever for keeping a coach. They will get over it and learn to love the new guy. Sure it costs recruits, but losing a bunch of ball games and being roasted by the media and on Twitter every week also costs recruits.
Recruiting class intact? You haven’t noticed the handful of late offers to no name 2 stars last minute to fill the class? I would normally be optimistic about that and talk up how they’ll be developed and coached up by our staff. But I’ve seen none of that happen with the current staff so unless you’re a 5 star elite best of the best and don’t need further development, coming to play for this current staff isn’t a good idea and they won’t help win games in the SEC.
Unemotional leadership? So it doesn’t matter to leadership that this coaching staff can’t seem to develop its players, can’t coach them to win, can’t manage the roster properly, cant game plan to their strengths and expose the opponents weaknesses, frankly, they can’t seem to do anything required of the job. They might have not seen enough but the rest of us have. Our staff is trash, our leadership is trash, our entire program is trash and that tends to bring out emotions from people that actually care, like fans.
Things are going perfect and the class is still in tact. Didn’t you read the “insiders” posts? Everything’s great and going according to plan. They’ve got this.
Why should anyone give a damn about recruiting? This coaching staff hasn’t shown the ability to develop talent or get young talent on the field. There’s no narrative to make these clowns look good
This staff will play it off that they do not like the instate kids like they have done for most of the past 3 years. What chaps my ass the most, we've only landed 2 of the top 10 in this year's in-state class, and zero of them are in the top 5.

Recruits need to know who their coach is going to be for the next 4 years.....if that cannot be answered, then Pruitt needs to be fired today.John Brice on Swain Event Says mega-money people are very frustrated. Says the question is does it cost more to fire him now or to have a lost year next year. Says it's no longer a Fulmer decision.
