The transfer portal is key and should be much more important than this vandy games result.


If key players are going to leave you have to make a change now. My guess is we aren’t going to have key players leave at least not many at all. Jmo

I'm a 247 subscriber and they are still trying to be positive.

This isn't good for Pruitt if the media is already starting to turn on him.

I'm actually shocked Hubbs would say this knowing it's highly likely Pruitt is back next year.

We're all fans - and I like discussing the program and the coaching carousel both in Knoxville and around the country. I have no interest in recruiting anymore and the football team has been impossible to follow passionately for the better part of a decade. So this is fun to talk about - if the fun ends and Pruitt is retained to 2021, I'll probably head back over to the Grizzlies and Braves threads.

If it wasn't for hypothetical coaching searches, talking UT history, and talking about other programs, there'd be no reason for me to come on here. Our program has been a complete embarrassment for about 13 years. It's amazing that we're still as relevant as we are; at least some in the national media still wonder "Man, what happened to Tennessee?" I guess you aren't totally irrelevant until people stop wondering what happened to you.

You knew this would happen with the new transfer rule. I hate it. It's about to ruin college football. It's already bad, it's about to get worse.

I wish our program and those surrounding it would stop being little bit*hes about it and instead be about it.

1) Shrout/Bailey/Salter with Freeze would = Offense heaven on the hill. But Phil?
2) QB's may transfer in or out?
3) UTAD will be paying coaching buyouts for decades to come, coming and going?
4) Anchor down may be the last great hope for change?
5) Even the nicest guy in sports media knows Jeremy is an arse and burnt toast at some point?
6) At least Rick Barnes knows what he is doing and COVID missed on its kill shot?
7) We are counting on Randy and Phil to fix things?
8) That many people still don't get that if football doesn't bring in the monies, UT sports die?
9) That UT football currently is a totally useless, bloated, bottom feeding carp?
10) That it has stunk to be a devoted Vol football fan for over a dozen years?

Why are boosters not forcing Fulmer hand right now?

Our offensive play calling and usage of the offensive roster is awful.

Our defense is on another level of suck, but we have been told we have some of the best defensive minded coaches in the game.

Because our boosters don’t care about anything other than posturing and slapping their names on buildings. They are happy to see the program fail and to use Fulmer as a human shield when the fans lash back because the truth is that they are the ones not ponying up. They’ve hung every AD we’ve had out to dry and never once taken responsibility when we know for a fact that many times they have hand picked the coach while the AD has been a figurehead. When we stood up against Schiano, Fulmer was their peace offering but we do not allow our ADs to be ADs. We operate assbackwards and as long as fans keep buying it they will keep doing it. They take as much responsibility for their mistakes (which are far larger) as Pruitt does for his.

The recruiting class is amazingly intact. The guys we need to stick are sticking. Most of our top recruits, including Salter, still plan on signing early. Brooks is still solid. Staying the course and focusing on playing and recruiting is exactly what stable, unemotional leadership should do right now.

Losing to Vandy would do more harm than good. And actually wanting to lose to Vandy and posting it on a message board that recruits read...

Fan apathy is a real thing, this is what years of taking a fan base for granted gets you.
