I think it's simple - Fulmer doesn't want to fire him because that would be an admission that he has also failed, and Phil probably has some support from the rest of the admin/boosters for keeping him because of COVID.I know UT is a disorganized mess but I still find it shocking that we’re gonna keep this guy. What the hell is the point? Only bad things will come from keeping this guy around. He has shown NOTHING to warrant a fourth season
If Fulmer thinks covid is a legitimate excuse for what’s happened this season, then he needs to be checked into an old folks home because his brain has turned into a pile of mush3 things
1) firing Pruitt is an admission of making a huge mistake in hiring
And more importantly
No doubt in my mind on this
2) fulmer believes Covid holds a lot of the blame for this year
3) fulmer believes Pruitt will learn from mistakes
I don’t doubt that at all. Shrout has looked great at times. I feel bad for the kid, all the QB’s, with how awful they’ve been managed and underdeveloped with this staff.I believe that Freeze could turn Shrout into a Burrow type story. Yeah, I said it.
He wants to be the savior of Vol football, so I go with narcissist. What is the psychological analysis of Fulmer, here? I see many posts claiming he is hesitant to fire. Based on his history with assistants, I admit the notion is valid. But what is it about him that makes him resistant? Does he have a huge ego? Is he too much of a "nice guy"? Is he a narcissist who is never wrong?
Somebody give me the armchair psychologist's diagnosis of Phil.
Why can’t we like both? It's amazing how quickly the board went from Bailey to Shrout. I'm still firmly in the Bailey camp. He was a couple overshoots on deep throws from a 3-4TD day and we're in the ballgame. Was excellent on the intermediate passes and reads. Just has to recognize pressure and make the proper protection calls a little better.
I don't even really like going there, which is why I kept that comment short. What is the psychological analysis of Fulmer, here? I see many posts claiming he is hesitant to fire. I'm for either. I think Shrout has an NFL arm. I think he's ready now to do big things. I think Bailey has a big future. Would love to see Freeze come in and blow up this offense with JT next year and then HB/Salter/Simpson battle it out for '22. Shrout can push the ball down the field better than Bailey at this moment. It's amazing how quickly the board went from Bailey to Shrout. I'm still firmly in the Bailey camp. Absolutely. we have 2 QB's on this team that a guy like Freeze who knows what they are doing could win a lot of games with. We have talent.I don’t doubt that at all. Shrout has looked great at times. A guy like Freeze could take this roster and win an SECC. I truly believe that. We have plenty of talent, we just lacking proper development and coaching.
