IF assistants really start abandoning ship, then Fulmer needs to take advantage of the situation. Why hire more assistants with buyouts when you know you're likely to fire your HC within a year anyway? Will he do it? Probably not because it makes too much damn sense.
You gotta think past Fulmer. Start calling out our power brokers for sitting on their hands. Fulmer can’t move without them and they are perfectly willing to let an uninformed fanbase scapegoat yet another AD when the problem is that they won’t act. We have to have the least useful power players in p5. All they care about is their war with one another and to the point where they are less useful to the program than the average middle class fan who drops thousands at a time. Millions and billions behind them that they refuse to spend is worthless to us.

We haven’t had an AD who was allowed to make decisions since Dickey. Well, minus our highly successful women’s AD that was free from all this while they were independent.

Keep hope alive Weez.

Meyer is the biggest fish. Do not see it ever being probable. Same for Stoops.

I like Freeze, but, not sold on him, but, not sold on anyone.

We, as usual, have achieved a level of pathetic not thought achievable preseason. As usual...... hype...... let down, prepare for bigger let down and delayed further disappointment.

Huge incentive laden, high paying, record setting bonus and pay must be offered on top of top echelon salary.... for a mercenary.

This is our only real bargaining chip. We offer ridiculous unseen amounts for production and results. In doing so, the university and admin must relinquish and acquiesce to the setting the new coach wants in all regards. We might find our winner. Who in the shadows has the power, pull, resources, and commitment to doing this and making it possible..........so, we have no shot......settle in for more of the same.

This feels worse than 2017. Way more hopeless because it’s nearing the end of the year and there’s an overwhelming sense that they’re gonna try to give this loser another chance.

On the field product is the worst I’ve seen, recruiting was once promising but it’s now collapsing, and Pruitt is making VFLs want to leave their alma mater to coach at rival schools. It’s depressing, frustrating, and embarrassing.
Yet another reason we need Freeze. OM during his tenure was every bit the disaster behind the scenes that we are at present. Actually, they were even worse (accounting kept on payments lol) in that they were far worse at cheating and had every bit the incompetence we’ve had with our power players. He managed to beat Saban twice despite all that. He is perfect for this mess.

Uhhh.. yeah, their money, their choices.........who would invest into this disaster of 2 decades worth of arse backwards bizarro world vortex of suck..... I didn't, and have not, and have no shame for doing so....in fact, that decision has been validated and shown to have been justified and correct.

The people in charge of hiring the AD, who run the university, who would be leading the change that you demand is where it begins and ends........money is not the issue. Has not been the issue. The entirety of the top of the operating pyramid is the problem, and, it is not going away regardless of money and who is behind it. And, in 2018, they made sure to keep it that way.

Wonder why we are in the same boat time and time again..........it is not the money. The decisions by admin, to time and time again, replicate poor decisions, is our issue.

Doesn’t matter how much money they have if they refuse to spend it. Once they do that they are no longer important and should be treated accordingly.

I also can't get over the overpaid staff not taking a pay cut. Tee and Jay jumped right in and VOLUNTEERED.

Got to be a pretty toxic environment right now. If either of those guys leave you are left with the assistants that were underperforming and need to be replaced.

How freaking dumb are these people to keep the dumbazz that assembled this staff (and fired others since he has been here) and now he pretty much is going to ask to replace the whole enchilada?

What coach worth his salt wants to jump into a toxic environment with a thin skinned, surly ,micromanaging, lame duck head coach?

Are you still on staff? March into Phil's office and tell him to fire the gump. You've got tenure it's all good.

J/K

But if can that would be great.
Lol. I wish but I’m no longer there. So I’m pretty useless beyond complaining to those I know. I do know a ton of VFLs feel the same way about this that we fans do.

Post better. You have no idea what Shrout would have done. I am good with both of their performances given the situation they had when they entered the game.

I'm just going under the assumption that JT Shrout pissed down his leg when he got in the Kentucky game right away. Either way, it was still beyond dumb to not let Bailey finish the game. Did nothing to be pulled.

I think they didn’t take the cut because they never expected to stay or for Pruitt to keep his job. The cut was to buy some goodwill but there’s no reason to do that if you don’t think you will be around. In that case you take every bit of it so you have a nest egg while you look for another job.

From Brad Shepard on 247. Long but great read

He is a great defensive coordinator who has proven he is not a good head coach. He is not going to ever relinquish the play-calling duties on defense, and he is too immersed in everything to ever be a good CEO coach. There have been a couple of times this year where, in the postgame press conference, he mentioned "that was a bad play call by me."The scariest part to me is, despite his intimate involvement with the defense, it's still not very good. The secondary has failed to guard the middle of the field all season, and the defensive line has regressed since he took over. The pass rush is nonexistent. In the offseason, it was very obvious he sacrificed coaching prowess for recruiting ability, and where has it gotten us? To the point where the product on the field is so bad, the recruiting is being negatively affected. It's the most ridiculous thing you can do, and it's cost him. Those two things, to me, are the biggest indictments of the Pruitt coaching regime. The most glaring, however, is his mismanagement of the quarterback position, and that's why he's in such hot water. How many times have we seen mass coaching turnover as the final band-aid on a gaping wound? We see it every year. We saw it with Dooley. We saw it with Butch. We saw it with Herman last year. We saw it with Muschamp last year. It never helps. It's delaying the inevitable. I've seen the posts on "stopping the endless cycle," blah blah blah, but if you KNOW he isn't the answer, you have to pull the plug. At the very best, you keep Pruitt and demand he makes wholesale changes. Again, it never, ever works. Also, who can you realistically get who wants to board a sinking ship? For Tennessee to be in this position after an eight-win season is not OK. This is year 3. If he's still too stubborn to relinquish responsibilities at this point, there's no hope for him. If he's still flipping assistants every year, nobody wants to work for him and nobody works out, there's no hope for him. If you put your true freshman quarterback in game nine, and he's completely not ready because he's not really been developed and not had game reps because you've kept the least-clutch player in school history going out there every game, there's no hope for him. When college football these days is won with offense, and you have arguably one of the five most stagnant units in school history and I'm sitting in my living room predicting the play calls, there's no hope for him.Everybody has dealt with COVID-19. That's no excuse. Yes, it's going to cost a fortune, but if you keep Pruitt, how much more will it cost? People say the talent has been upgraded, but really has it? Where is the evidence of that? Do we look bigger? Stronger? Faster? Do we look like we're developing players? Are players getting that much better? On the other hand, when you bring in your own players and you're still playing Butch's players, what does that say about your confidence in the players you've brought in? The truth is, regardless of what the rankings say, Pruitt has not recruited that well. He still can't recruit kids from the state. He's thinking he's going to go to war with Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Clemson and get kids, and he doesn't. We continually lose out to them and settle.I could go on and on. The in-game coaching decisions are maddening. The lack of adjustments is inexplicable. The fact that we've gotten exponentially worse in the second half is a huge, glaring red light that should be blinking over and over again. I want to be wrong here, guys. But I'm not. We have to pull the plug. Moreover, there's a situation where you've got Hugh Freeze openly lobbying for the job, Billy Napier leaking to reporters he really wants the Tennessee job (he's a Tennessee boy), and the hottest coach in the country, Jamey Chadwell, hailing from East Tennessee and has a son named Heath who he named after Heath Shuler. You have to go make a few guys like Matt Campbell and some of the retired Whale Names tell you no (they will), but your FLOOR is three guys who would walk on broken glass to get here. Do we know they'd do a good job? No. There are no home runs, and that's scary. But we know the answer is not who is on the sideline right now for the Vols. How do you keep trotting out the same product on the field every week and think he's the answer? Fulmer's biggest mistake as a head coach was loyalty to his assistants. If he is the same way with Pruitt, we're just going to be dealing with this again next year when the candidate pool is perhaps not as strong. What do you guys think?

I hated to read that. I hate the state of Tennessee football. But it’s really hard to argue with most of that.

Still, I don’t think we make a change this year.

Expect a Graham to USC announcement soon.

Tee is also looking for a way out.

Pruitt has successfully alienated two VFLs.
Unreal! COME ON, FULMER!! You are a VFL, and your Bama hire for HC is so terrible that you are willing to lose 2 VFL coaches, who YOU coached, in order to give him another year???!!! Yet, you know this song and dance and what will happen with wholesale coaching changes heading into a make or break year...it ALWAYS breaks!! Make the change now!! My word the level of incompetence and idiocy on the hill is unbelievable!

So Tee, Jay, Neids, Ansley, Weinke all gone with Brumbaugh being fired mid season and they are gonna retain JP? Who TF is he gonna sign?

If you were firing him pre-signing day, I think you had to do it yesterday at the latest. It’s going to be a long and stressful two weeks for some of us.
