Dabo wasn't at one time though. He was just a WR coach for a middling ACC team, but he was a good recruiter which it seems like the route South Carolina and Arkansas are now trying. Im not saying Chadwell would or should bring everyone, but all these guys have to start somewhere. Venables was just a LB coach back at K St before he became a DC at OU.
I think that's where a lot of us are messing up. A head coach needs to surround himself with people he can work with 1st, then worry about recruiting. The staff continuity should be able to work the recruiting aspect of it out. We've had good ball players, we've not had good coaching staffs.

I totally agree, but is Tennessee in a position to take a chance the way Clemson did with Dabo? I say no, but maybe I’m wrong.

Imagine a Tee Martin “national championship winning QB gets the job he’s always wanted” montage with the entire 1998 team at the press conference.

That’d be this x100000
And he'd lose to Florida in his first
September on the job, and the honeymoon would be over...

Here's the deal.. Whoever we hire, whenever we hire them, needs to win almost immediately.. At the very least get a signature win really early... Get to any post season and show signs of an exciting brand of football...

And not have the personality of a tree stump.... Which wouldn't matter, if you can win early enough for it not to.

My pessimism knows no bounds presently.

Moglia retired the year before they went FBS. Chadwell is their only FBS coach they've had.
That’s not correct. Moglia coached them in the first year of their transition, took a year off for their first year in FBS and Chadwell was the interim, then Moglia came back in 2018.

Anyway, he’s got “buy out in year 3 or 4” written all over him to me if he comes here. Has literally nothing in his background that shows that he would even know what to do on day one in this job.

Nooooooooo
Absolutely no. It would be a dumber hire than Pruitt. We have to quit rolling the dice on unproven, inexperienced coaches.

This hire is will be the most important in the history of TN. All of them are important but with each failed hire, the more important they become. I'm afraid another failed hire may doom TN football for the next 20 years. They may never recover. We absolutely have to make a good hire. With each failed coach we become worse and worse. I love Tee but we can't afford another experiment at head coach. All JMO

Then Tee announces his staff.
Jay- RB coach
Leondard Little- D Line
Al Wilson- Linebackers
Terry Fair- DB
Steve Matthews- O line
Ainge- QB
Steele- DC
Sanders- OC
Witten- TE
Some random guy- Special Teams
Haynesworth, Haynesworth bc why the **** not? Those poor boys will **** their pants.
