On the Urban Meyer talking to Power 5 AD and President, the source for the article was 99% his agent and it’s called creating a market for yourself. The conversation may not have gone anywhere and Meyer could have laughed his a$$ off, but it lets other schools who might be interested know it’s game time.

And, how do we know that Tennessee hasn’t done this?

Plus, Texas hasn’t exactly hit home runs with their latest hires and “throwing money around” (they’ve actually not done that). So what makes them different than Tennessee?

They at least hired head coaches that were hot commodities and perceived to be a winner at the next step. We can’t even do that. If we hired a decent to big name winning head coach and he didn’t live to expectations... I’m more than happy to go a new direction but I’m 100% not feeling like we all do right now. It’s like if we hired freeze and he just didn’t work out to high expectations. Hey we did the “no brainer” so my frustration is way lower than what we’ve tried the past 10 years.

one thing i thought about, and it's totally out of the box and probably not viable, but with guys like that, that are so much bigger than our DB's and fast/athletic enough to make a DE or LB look silly in coverage, i've wondered about putting one of those 6'5" TE's we're not using in as a defender specifically for those types of matchups? still probably not as athletic, but can at least stand eye to eye and is more nimble than a DE or LB possibly?

the problem is what you have to give up to do that, and it'd probably create another mismatch somewhere else they could take advantage of...

but guys like Pitts and Darnell Washington are gonna be problems against most defenses...it's a mismatch in almost every way.
