I think those may end up being our ultimate choices, but it won't be this year. Pruitt will be our coach next year.
I fully expect Pruitt to be given next year and honestly expect him to get 2 more. I just dont think it matters. I dont think he's more than a 7-9 win guy

I think they'll still be effective on O, but they're not going to be anywhere near this year's team. But the original topic didn't involve beating them anyways. 8-4 or 9-3 is obtainable without beating either.

I think the next time Pruitt fails to win 7 games he’s done. That’s the line in the sand imo from here on out

Let’s talk about a possible scenario that could happen. Let’s assume that Pruitt doesn’t get fired this year, and he doesn’t barring a loss to Vandy if that game is played. I think everyone would agree, if we step back and think rationally, that if we had decent QB play, at best we could be 6-1 right now and at worst 5-2. Let me say right off the bat, I’m not an idiot in spite of what Kingston says, I know there are plenty of other issues, but I still believe that is true that with better QB play our record is much better (I know it’s Pruitt’s fault he kept playing JG).

That being said, JG is gone next year. So is Weinke who couldn’t develop a hot dog if you gave him a wiener and a bun. Chaney likely becomes the QB coach, and he has a track record for developing QB’s.

Pruitt hires Bo Davis for the DL coach, and we have a lot of experience returning there as well as a lot of young talent which allows him to assist Nieds and Felton with developing the LB position. In spite of what we think of him as a HC, the guy knows how to coach defense.

We then have a full offseason with spring and fall camp to develop our players. That 2020 class was loaded and they’ll have their first offseason.

We’ve already established that QB play elevates the team, so in the fall of 2021 either Bailey or a transfer plays really well for us. There’s only 3 unwinnable games, and TN goes 8-4. This shows enough improvement for Pruitt to land that loaded class in 2022. They finish top 10 in the recruiting rankings with Simpson heading up that class.

We then go into 2022 with a Junior HB, a Rfr Salter, freshman HB, that loaded 20’ class as juniors more hopeful than we are now. Maybe by then Pruitt has learned and is doing a better job. HB then hands the reins to Salter or Simpson who elevates the program even more

I’m not saying this happens, I’m not saying that I believe that it happens, but this is a possible scenario.
I think we know exactly how this plays out based on previous years. 1 of two things will happen. Pruitt will go 5-7 and be fired next year followed by a mcgoogle hire.

Or

Pruitt will do juuust enough to save his job next year at 6-6 or 7-5 and proceed to be fired in 2022 after another weak year.

I don't disagree. We can hope he suddenly figures things out, but I don't expect it to happen. This year pretty much crushed any hope I had.

Same. Pruitts poor handling of the QB position and archaic offense has me out on him. As well as how poorly our defense has played under a supposed defensive guru.

There’s young talent for sure, but I think one Trey and Cade declare for the draft and Kennedy moves on, the center of that offensive line is going to be a turnstile just like the tackles are now.

There’s no one on the defensive line an opposing offense has to prepare for.

We know this is a recipe for disaster even if HB is pretty good.

No doubt we'll miss Trey. I hope Cade returns. I think Carvin, Lampley, or Cooper could all potentially be upgrades over Kennedy. Hell I actually think Carvin may have been a better start at C this season, but another full off-season and he'll be ready to start inside. Should also have Calbert back and he has proven to be good enough to start. Also Akporoghene will benefit a ton from another off-season, and even as an incoming freshman he got high praise for his natural skills. Spraggins by all accounts could be a very good "diamond in the rough" find. Feel pretty good about OL, still not sure Friend is a very good coach but he's stocked up on some good SEC size that could develop.

DL who knows man...who knows. I feel like Simmons has been pretty solid this year and will be one dude that benefits a ton from another proper off-season. Big O & Bailey if both stay here were high rated and haven't had a real off-season yet, maybe they take over the youth movement? Also RJ Perry listed on the DL so who knows which side he ends up playing his size and athletic ability though he could be a problem for folks with proper coaching. We manage to land a Bo Davis to coach DL and I think there is real potential.

On second thought, I'm not sure we can get to 5 next year.....if we have the same coach that lost to GA St. We look so much less prepared than every team we play. We were a muffed punt from losing to the worst South Carolina team in 20 years.

We should have won anyway, but GSU was odd. We were missing Bituli and Bryce Thompson and our entire front seven (except Taylor) was new along with playing a true freshman Burrell. You then have JG at QB, and he made his typical bad decisions.

I don’t know that JP is the long term answer, but I would like to see someone else at QB full time to see how it would work. As Butch would say, I’d like to see complimentary football.

Chandler and Gray combined had 13 carries for 77 yards, which is almost 6 yards per carry. We were 8-13 on third down. We gave up 4 sacks and had 3 turnovers (2 on JG).

Again, the stats minus turnovers would point toward a win. I am not excusing a loss to GSU, but we just need a new QB to see.

We might as well stop the new HC talk for this year cause CP and CF will blame our sad playing on COVID. CP will get another year but if he screws up again next year maybe there will be a better choices for our new HC. Can you imagine being a HC that has to coach when the fans have given up on them.

I actually like our chances next year to have a good year with competent coaching. There’s some talent over there, just got to get them in a position to be successful.

We’re going to get blown out tomorrow, but my hot take of the season is Florida is pure smoke and mirrors. They have the best player in the country (Pitts) and Trask has been great, so credit where credit is due. However when they’re gone I think Florida will take a step back. I believe you’ll see the offense from Mississippi St comes back where they run 65% of the time.
