I love Cutcliffe, but he's certainly not the answer for UT. That time is past. So the names that I could possibly see UT looking at are Herman, Napier, and Chadwell. Of those three, I think Herman would make the most sense. But that's JMO. We're not as prestigious as we once were. And no matter what anyone says, there's still a lot of dysfunction in our admin.

Or we just stick with Pruitt one more year because that is what is going to happen.

Don't blame you for questioning it. No offense taken.

I agree that aTm would like to play on 12/19 to get a statement win to leave a good last impression on the selection committee. From a practical perspective, aTm probably would rather play Ole Miss at home for the revenue and fan support than play UT on the road. So if Sankey decides to cancel one of the games, UT-aTm could be the casualty. Or aTm could play both games on the two open dates the SEC allocated. If aTm thinks two more games/Ws will improve their playoff positioning, they'll likely lobby for that.

It’s the 19th and much of the nation Is watching A&M and they have a lot of pressure on themselves. We would have a lot to gain in front of a lot of eyes that day. I think we could give them a solid game. It’s a much better match up than florida imo

Herman, Campbell would probably be my top 2. Freeze a close 3rd. Then I'd have a few names I'd settle for, Napier, Cutcliffe, and Richt being of that group.

Do I think Cutcliffe is going to light it up and save UT football? Probably not, but I think Bailey already here allows Cut to come in and hit the ground running. Then if he manages to pull another elite QB prospect we all know he can mold that position like no other. His most crucial hire would be his DC, I know Duke is almost handicapped a bit with the admission restrictions so I think he'd be above 500 here far easier than there.

Still he's pretty low down my list. I honestly don't think you need "an elite recruiter" especially at HC since they rarely get to hit the pavement like in Fulmer's days. So what I'd rather see is someone who can manage things top down better than Pruitt has and better than Butch did. Someone who makes good hires for his staff and keeps them. The winning and our facilities/product will recruit itself and if you hire good staff they'll handle the heavy lifting.

Totally agree. This is more than likely the route we go. I will just be bummed if they do that knowing he's not the guy and plan on firing him next year. When the coaching market will be a lot more competitive.

I could see Richt taking the job tbh. Not sure if it'd work out, but it's not that far fetched imo

Would y'all rather have Mark Richt or Les Miles if you had to choose?

Listen, I know we're not hiring David Cutcliffe. Hell, it's pretty damn likely we're riding lame duck Jeremy Pruitt into 2021.

But I have a lot more fun thinking about this stuff than thinking about which way we're going to get to 5 wins next year.

ANYWAY, here's me spitballing a Cut staff here:

HC: Cutcliffe
OC/QB: Zac Roper
RB: Jay Graham
Outside WR/Passing Game Coordinator: Tee Martin
OL/TE: Matt Luke
Inside WR: Trooper Taylor

DC: Mike MacIntyre or Kevin Steele
DL: Ben Albert
LB: Lanier Goethie
DB: Charles Clark
