Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Oh, so you know how long the power of the vaccine lasts for? Great. How long long does it last? Answer that and I'll then be able to answer your question. But since my prior statement apparently wasn't clear let's try a different approach. I'll make my answer algebraic. I won't feel a need to wear a mask after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine until 1 month before the real life data defines the "longevity" of the vaccine shot

They say that it's effective 2 weeks after your second dose so it ought to be safe to take the mask off then. When asked earlier you said that you'd continue to wear one until they told you how long it'd last. So my question is why wear one in the short term?

Or why ever stop? The flu hasnt been cured.

Anger? No! Just totally baffled by your post. But nothing new for me when people have fringe views. Had more people worn masks and socially distanced from the get go this COVID situation could have been contained far better. But it was not to be mostly because of attitudes throughout the country that mirror many expressed on this Forum
Except you see the exact same situations playing out in countries that did do the mandates and lock downs. You have no proof to say it would have been better.

We don't communicate well do we? You started by taking about longevity (I interpret period of time the vaccine is potent or protects you) and now your referencing sort of a fertilization period - - i.e., how long after receiving the vaccine doe it take affect? You used "let's say 2 weeks If it takes X days after receiving the vaccine to take effect I will wear a mask for those X days. If the vaccine is protective and provides safety from it for Y days after receiving the vaccine, then I will begin wearing a mask again 30 days before those Y days. If Covid is under control by that Yth date, then I will consider the guidance of those experts at that time.

I don’t agree. People that contracted the disease were typically not mask wearers or social distances. Trump got it he didn’t wear a mask. His lawn party announcing scotus candidate created a serious infection all by itself
Atlantas mayor is one of the biggest mask Karen's out there and she got it. You have the Cuomo brother on CNN who got it. My parents who have real N95 masks and were very careful about the whole thing got it.

You have no way to prove your assertion.

Faith-based "science" is all the rage right now.

Wearing a mask is a hassle. There's got to be a sound reason to make it worth the hassle. Most outdoor events don't meet that threshold..

I agree there will be more Americans in the future doing what we've seen numerous Asians do for years which is wear a mask. If they choose to do it, I think it's nuts, but whatever. But I don't want wusses like you pressuring the rest of us to wear a mask after vaccinations are given to those who choose to get it. At that point, STFU on masks.
These chinese wear masks because of air pollution big enough to be caught in the masks. And it is often considered rude/unacceptable to deal with mucous in public. Something like using a handkerchief or Kleenex is a big no no in public.

So in their case the face diaper expression is a little more fitting.

The scientific/medical experts say it would be
With no proof. We have seen their stances change time and time again on almost literally everything. The CDC has said multiple times that cloth masks dont work, and have never once made that recommendation to the public to wear masks during flu seasons.

You and Sea Ray are officially members of the whack job masculinity deficient club of socially inadequate underachieving Trumpers
I’m not a trumpeter nor underachieving or socially inadequate. I don’t know what your weird standard of “masculinity deficient” is but everyone here sees your lack of self awareness of being hypocritical, your refusal to respond to simple questions and resorting to namecalling, as well your weak points as clear evidence you have no basis in reality and logic

Expert opinion is the weakest form of scientific evidence. And if you look at the information they are using to form those opinions, there are significant flaws.

I wear a mask. Mostly because it’s easy and if it helps, great. If not, I personally don’t feel infringed upon. I feel it’s a compromise to “protect the vulnerable.” I don’t want to be told I have to be locked down at home. But neither does the 65yo mildly obese diabetic. So we compromise. I wear a mask, we all get to live a little more freely until it’s over.

I will make a decision on that after it has been determined for how long you are safe from the dual inoculation. No one knows the answer for that right now. How about you?

Here's your quote. There's no one saying how long this protection lasts thus that answer is not forthcoming. With that in mind, will you continue to wear a mask after vaccination?

You are correct, there is a communication disconnect here 'cause your answers are so incomplete.

I'll answer the question:

Unless forced to do so, I'll not wear a mask after vaccination takes effect (two weeks after second dose). I have no plans to go back to wearing a mask. If further information comes to light, I reserve the right to adjust my thinking to that new info. Right now I'm thinking that the combination of vaccinations and people building immunity by getting it will be sufficient to bring this virus under control. My expectation is that they'll recommend "boosters" for this much like they recommend flu vaccines. I will likely get those like I get flu vaccines but if by chance I do fall through the cracks and somehow get this virus, I'll not panic. I'll deal with it like I would any bug. What I won't do is live my life avoiding crowds and constantly wearing a mask. That ain't happenin'.

Can someone on here explain how my 73 year old dad got Covid but my 71 year old mom who sleeps in the same bed with him didn't?

Same thing happened to my neighbors and the spouse never got it.

I really am curious here since it's supposedly so easy to get.

That kind of stuff blows my mind. I just assume they did have it, asymptomatic.

Literature was posted a couple of weeks ago which stated a certain percentage of people have an innate immunity to this type of virus. In other words, 100% infection rate isn't possible.

Not sure I would take the vaccine or not but reading thru the TN distribution plan, I see the usual idiotic government hands all over it.

So k-12 teachers are in phase 2. Ahead of people the same ages with non government jobs.
Maybe you're not up to speed, teaching school right now is D-Day+Blackhawk Down+Fallujah x 1000. Nearly every teacher employed in August is dead. It's lord of the flies at my kid's school, the fifth graders are in charge and the regime is harsh but the education must continue.

I agree.

School teachers, which many are teaching virtually, need this more than men and women working on production lines. We just need to perfect that virtual production line work.
