Why dont fans support this program no matter how bad the times get?

What do you call “fans” who actively root for their team to lose? Like some of these guys would be mad if Tennessee pulled the upset on Saturday.
I honestly don't know any Vol fans that would do that.. They might say it out of frustration, but actually do it? I have to say no..

It's one of the reasons I NEVER bet on Tennessee to win or lose.

I'm not upset at all, you see if you can do it so can I, that's how 5th grade debates work.
If you believe the nonsense you have been talking all day, and "negavols" aren't enough to matter, then why are you here arguing? Shouldn't you be pumping sunshine and getting ready go see the Vols beat Florida?

Well, the OPs sentiment suggests just that.

So do you actually support Jeremy Pruitt?
Do you believe he can and will turn things around. If so why?
I don't know if he can or not but I know he's a really good football coach and respected in coaching circles not associated with the couch coaches of VN. This season has been rough and certainly looks terrible but we've been really hampered for whatever reasons at every single position group this year. I think our S&C took a big hit, losing the experienced coaches like Rocker hurt us and our elite players have all had something go wrong for them. Trey Smith has played with an injured labrum since the 2nd game, Thompson with a torn pec, Alontae with a bum leg, Shamburger was a no show, Morris with no practice coming off hip surgery and Henry T trying to play MLB in the SEC at 225 was never going to work. We don't have a back that helps us in short yardage and we might as well have me playing TE. We've got a bunch to overcome and it looks insurmountable now but I want to see what Pruitt does when the roster is his alone the next 2 years. I think we're closer than it looks I just feel like we have really struggled to get everyone on the same page this season which was probably tough to accomplish with as many as 50 players missing most of the preseason and us never having everyone available and healthy for a single game or practice this year. I expect us to play better this Saturday simply because the young guys have been getting a ton of good reps the last 3 weeks.

I am and I'm not ashamed of it, I guess you're proud of all the negative horse hockey a faction of our fanbase continues to spew.

"Fair" point.

I'm super critical of Jeremy Pruitt. Outright calling him a weasel who is losing games on purpose.

That's not the teams fault. Not even JGs fault ultimately.

Can't root for the VOLS to lose, even if evidence exists that they will lose by a wide margin.

I don't want to see Tennessee get stomped this Saturday. But I think they will. As a result, my "positive " is that I hope that brings Hugh Freeze that much closer to Knoxville.

To many people in our country AND the world see things still in black and white. Choose a "side". Well ...the earth is a globe...

I didn't want to can Fulmer at the time, but in all fairness no one could have predicted the TN AD would bargain bin shop 4 times in a row.
It was an easy prediction to make I thought. Boosters will write the check if they know they've got someone else 100 pct lined up. We should have been able to hire a star over Kiffin but the dumbass in charge evidently never checked to see if we even had a chance with any of the top guys at the time. Fulmer and those like him's lifelong dedication to the program is what led us to huge success and like dummies we all decided that a group of outsiders could come in here and make us elite. We killed our own and it killed our program.

Why do you feel entitled and that you deserve a better team to pull for? Unless you're a big time money donor they could care less what you think you deserve. Football is simply an activity for students that produces income for the University and unless UT goes belly up I'm betting that they continue the tradition of fielding a team regardless of what you and those like you feel you are entitled to.
And you want to call others "Negavols"? What could POSSIBLY be more negative than condemning fans for having high expectations?

The Bama administration wouldn't tolerate our last 12 years. When they were "bad" they still were competitive and had winning seasons.
Bama is a win at all cost program, they have no trouble cheating to win so comparing what they would do as to what we do is not comparing the same 2 things. I ask you this, do you have a problem if we have to cheat to win?

If you're not cheating, you're not trying.

That's stupid. Sorry but it is. The game had passed Fulmer by. He was losing ground against the competition and refused to change. Off the field problems with players and unconditional loyalty to assistants was assuring failure on the field. Recruiting had dropped off and especially on the line of scrimmage. Remember who Kiffin was forced to start in 2009 and how thin the D was? It really didn't get much better until Jones hit the lottery with a bunch of legacy recruits.

Firing him was the right move. Pretty much everything that followed has been ridiculously wrong.

Interesting Mr "Posivol" calling a Vol a "dumbass".

Do you have proof they're cheating? I'm gonna bet that if such proof existed there are about 130 programs that would like to see them knocked off that pedestal.

Do you seriously think Bama has to "cheat" to get players to come there?

Hamilton had worked in the department for 11yrs before getting hired as AD. Are you calling him an outsider because he graduated from Clemson? Look, I'm not defending the dude, his hires were a disaster, I'm just saying i don't they had anything to do with him being an "outsider". There are many accomplished programs with AD's and HC's that had no ties to their programs before they were hired.

Hamilton got the AD job because Fulmer lobbied for him so that's another bad choice we can chalk up to 'ol Phil.

I agree but at the time Kiffin was hired the only person in the athletic department and coaching staff with ties to Tennessee was Condredge. For about 10 years we decided to get rid of everything associated with Fulmer or Tennessee and it backfired miserably.

If you're here on this site, it's clear you aren't a fair weather fan. This program has done nothing of note for almost 15 years now, and in many cases has performed outright terribly, yet we're still here and care enough to read/post.

I hear you. Would you agree though that in a normal season, Tennessee would have been 6-6 this year? 5-7, 8-5, 6-6 first 3 seasons. I get the blowout losses are unacceptable, but if we look at it more holistically, the university is not on fire.

I’ve maintained give him one more year and if they win less than 6-7 games next year, I’d be first in line to fire him.

All of that is true. I agree with all of the excuses you mentioned above. We are much closer than we look. We showed that against UGA...until someone started to turn the football over. And he hasn't stopped.

Pruitt is a good xs and os guy. And my discontent with him is that he knows football yet continues to put the team in a position to lose. Over the past 5 games, Jarrett has thrown more TDs to the opponents than his own team. Those same games we have lost by double digits.

We have a 5 star QB who will only get better by getting the chance to actually play and start. Yet, he doesn't have that look in his eye yet......?

You are a Vol fan. I'm a Vol fan. But sir, it is my opinion that Jeremy Pruitt is not.

If you look over the past 3 seasons, Pruitt's success has come when we play a team without consistency at QB. Basically whenever we play a good QB we lose.
That's because our own offense can't generate enough points or time of possession to keep the other offense off the field and out pace them on the scoreboard.
And we're playing with a QB that has 34 starts and only 38 TDs in that span.

Do you seriously think Bama has to "cheat" to get players to come there?
They had to before with the Means deal, they did for years under Bryant and now Bryant Jr pretty much pulls the strings in Tuscaloosa and they still have plenty of boosters with ties to the past so yes, I think they are a win at all cost program even though Saban may not be a win at any cost type coach. In the SEC the order of cheating would start in Alabama with both Auburn and the commies, LSU would be a close 3rd followed by lil Miss.

This post is dumb. Either your Tennessee Volunteers fan or your not PERIOD.
Yes some stray away when they suck and find better things to do, that is normal when you pack in 100,000 fans to watch a storied program with deep tradition have coaches that belong in group of five conferences.
I will always bleed Orange, and right now I think every true Vol fan has been literally bleeding Orange watching dollar store coaches cash fat checks and giving the fans less than mediocre results.
Whoever said you should be happy with mediocre football.
Ohio State never has mediocre coaches, if they do they fix it once and find a good one.
Same goes for Alabama.
UT needs to get with Jones's or join the AAC.
