Pruitt is a great Xs and Os coach - don’t laugh, he is. He will figure this out.

where have you seen any of this in our game plans? Point to a game where he set up games that we dominate match ups/schemes let alone games?
How often do you see us scheme up a crazy blitz that causes a turnover?
Our 2nd half adjustments have been abysmal, a good X&O guy figures stuff out on the fly and makes winning changes at half....
And do I need to bring up offense? But I will, take Saints or Clemson as an example. Do you see how many ways they make sure they get their Most talented players the ball in space mismatched vs LBs or safeties... when do we do that? We almost have to have perfect execution to score a touchdown. It’s almost as if our coaching staff doesnt know how to isolate and target the opposing teams’ weakness

He is more likely gone than staying.

We are not fine. In fact we have been a joke for over a decade and counting.

Everything will be ok but I truly believe this is the point where the administration either makes the right hire or fans are checking out for good. I know I’m not showing back up to Neyland with Pruitt as our head coach.
I hope your first statement is true, but I don't believe it is.

If I were in JP’s shoes...I would probably look to the future. Shore up one of the best ‘22 classes the program has ever seen and make it extremely hard for the administration to get rid of me for fear of loosing such a talented group of players...
LOL!

So massive staff turnover again? Paying the buyout for multiple coaches with multi-year deals? Sweet.

The firing and hiring of new position coaches this year and all the years combined you could probably buy Pruitts contract out😅😂 which is why I have a hard time understanding what’s to be gained by keeping him?..we just lost our top recruit..others will soon follow because of how big of a piece he was in the class..

What a joke

I already wrote the release

QUOTE="BruinVol, post: 19012129, member: 45542"]Ok it’s time for Phil to make his statement.

I’ll help you coach fulmer. This is what you need to say

“Coach Jeremy Pruitt is the man to lead our program in the future. 2020 has been a very challenging year for everyone and while we aren’t happy with the results on the field we know that Coach Pruitt dealt with many obstacles that has hindered the performance of this program. Many of the obstacles were simply Harder to overcome than the rest of the SEC had to deal with and I know without a shadow of a doubt that Jeremy is the man to lead us into better times. He’s showed us what he is capable of doing leading this program to the nations longest winning streak and we know he will do even bigger things in the future. Thanks for your support and let’s get behind this program! Go Vols!”

If Fulmer is going to keep bama Jeremy like I am nearly certain will be the case he must be a halt to the speculation and now![/QUOTE]

What specifically makes you believe Pruitt is a good X and O coach?

Salter is project who won't be ready until at least his second year in the system.
When I listen to him dissect plays he understands everything that is going to happen before it does. It’s unreal. He just hasn’t found a way to get that knowledge to transfer yet. He will.

I’m not sure how you land “one of the best classes the program has ever seen” in ‘22. We aren’t going to sign a top 5 class. Plus we have talent on the roster pruitt can’t win with and that doesn’t go unnoticed.
It is a very small chance this happens. The team would have to be a 8-9 win team next year to have a chance at having a great class. I don’t think we have the coaches to develop the team or the chemistry to make a team that has the right attitude.
That being said, I don’t know if firing Pruitt will help either. Look at our past. We don’t hire proven coaches. We hire long shots at Tennessee. If he is fired I would guess we hire another assistant or a non-power 5 head coach. The best we can probably hope for is we just get lucky, and with the coaches and recruiting competition we have in the SEC... let’s just say that would be some crazy luck.
Been a VOLS fan for a long time, but I now enjoy watching the NFL.

If I was a recruit and just saw two of the top recruits decommit it would cause me to think maybe I need to look around. This is just the start.

Oh for sure 100% which is what’s happening before our very own eyes!..next week will be a disaster..it’s definitely a trickle down effect

My one good reason is actually two things:

JG won’t be the starter.
Pruitt is a great Xs and Os coach - don’t laugh, he is. He will figure this out.

Bonus: Salter is going to be legit elite.

Nothing that we do schematically on either side of the ball screams great Xs and Os coach.

I’m over going all in on incoming QBs.

I get it but it’s reality.

Now I have never been on the “Pruitt is the guy” side of things and I am not ready to say he can’t be the guy now. The Truth is usually in the middle and this board rarely does middle

I don’t care for crowd control or painting false hope of these savior recruits. We have had plenty of good recruits come through here and this coach has us getting beat by BYU, GA ST, KY, and Arkansas. He is not all the sudden going to come into some coaching wisdom and figure everything out in year FOUR! It’s over and kicking the can down the road only makes us lose the best class (22 class) in Tennessee in a long time.

Disagree. I think the fans have it right this time. Pruitt isn’t the guy and never will be. He is an elite coordinator, and that is just fine.

So he has half the tools needed....which are absolutely useless to him as a head coach without being able to disseminate it.

I hope you're right and he learns to put it together. Because if he doesn't and we try to wait for it to come together for him the program will be buried.

At this point I'm not sure how tenable his position is, I'm not 100% convinced he's all in anymore. As it stands now the only thing you could argue he has done reasonably well at has been recruiting, that appears to be taking a turn in the wrong direction. He has to have something to hang his hat on, he's running out of excuses.

Well if his ceiling is 8 wins and his floor is 6(saying we win 4 OOC cupcakes) then the middle is 7. So right now Pruitt is the definition of mediocrity. Its time for him to go.

I’ll say one thing.. If Jeremy Pruitt let’s Will Friend walk, by his choice or not, and he’s still the head coach here. It’ll be the first time I actually think he’ll be serious about trying to be a head coach.

Hiring your buddies is usually the doom of first time coaches, and a hard lesson to learn. I still don’t think he survives 21, but that shows me he’s willing to try.
