You guys are good dudes and I have nothing but respect. But this sounds like damage control. There are a ton of fans that have lived through Dooley and Jones and know when the end is the end. GSU, BYU, KY, playing JG, staff turnover, defensive press conferences, lack of player development, record double digit losses, and now we are losing top recruits....the list goes on. We struggle to find any positives, really.

If you can give me one good reason, just one, that we will be more competitive against Bama, UGA, and FL in year 4 I will feel better about Pruitt coaching next year.
Way too logical.
way too rational.
our administration never does logical and rational. Sigh.

My one good reason is actually two things:

JG won’t be the starter.
Pruitt is a great Xs and Os coach - don’t laugh, he is. He will figure this out.

Bonus: Salter is going to be legit elite.

If I were in JP’s shoes...I would probably look to the future. Shore up one of the best ‘22 classes the program has ever seen and make it extremely hard for the administration to get rid of me for fear of loosing such a talented group of players...

Going to be hard to do if you don't win. Look at this class falling apart.

JG will
NO he's not. Another assistant that got a big job off Saban's coattails. For a defensive guru our defense is terrible

The fact that your first reason hasn’t happened this year negates it as a good reason for next year. JMO.

No offense but you say that like he just has to snap his fingers and it happens. When you say shore up, that indicates that we have a ton of ‘22 commits wanting to play for Pruitt but we don’t. Reality is, these kids are not stupid and they aren’t as blindly loyal as we are and will not come here with what we are putting on the field. Why should we expect different? I watch every game waiting on the inevitability bad thing to happen and wouldn’t you know that it always does. This is the feeling of being a TN fan, but why? I’ve convinced myself that it’s a curse and it’s the luck of a TN fan but in reality it’s not magic or luck. Reality is that it isn’t shadow man or anything like that but instead it’s simply common sense. Hire a good, proven head football coach with proven success and shadow man disappears and we get to have fun and be proud again. Or continue to try to convince our fan base that we are shortsighted and unreasonable and that it’s going to be ok and we should give more time. It sucks to watch so many other teams be competent and then watch what we do. I can’t imagine being you and investing money and watching it. I appreciate what you do and your optimism but I hate that you may be enabling this administration to continue to feed us chicken **** and tell is it’s chicken salad.

What specifically makes you believe Pruitt is a good X and O coach?

Salter is project who won't be ready until at least his second year in the system.

Do you believe Pruitt is capable of turning the program around after such a terrible season?

we have good coaches. they have track record at other schools. why it isnt lining up here?

We are not changing the head coach.

We will be fine.

It’s going to be okay.
He is more likely gone than staying.

We are not fine. In fact we have been a joke for over a decade and counting.

Everything will be ok but I truly believe this is the point where the administration either makes the right hire or fans are checking out for good. I know I’m not showing back up to Neyland with Pruitt as our head coach.
