Tell me again why you're so high on Marrone? If you did in thread 2, I must've missed it. Apologies sentSo Fulmer and Freeze have a "chilly" relationship. Time to bring on the big man from the Bronx. Doug Marrone.

It's not like UT doesn't run the numbers and evaluate all scenarios. Fans always claim a new coach will send ticket sales through the roof and make a coaching change profitable, but that hasn't been the case. Attendance goes up and ticket sales blip, but the increase in ticket and gameday revenue isn't enough to cover the many expenses of a coaching change.
Not to mention UT has facility renovations and upgrades on the calendar, and TV revenue is down due to COVID. I have more of a cut your losses perspective so I agree that it's not always about numbers, but like I've said, Fulmer is willing to ride with Pruitt and there's little enthusiasm for a coaching change at UT this year. It would take a shift in thinking, top-down.
noWeinke for OC, amirite @Bassmaster_Vol ?
Did a good job at Syracuse back in the early 2010s. 2 8-5 seasons after years of being piss poor. Tons of NFL experience. I believe he could hire a great coaching staff similar to Herm Edwards at ASU. Plus he's not in the twilight of his career just yet. He's 56 years old. Also I would never even consider him a viable candidate if not for his previous relationship with Fulmer. I'm not saying he would be a home run but he would probably get Tennessee back to at least 8 and 9 win seasons. He would need to hire some recruiters though but that shouldn't be a problem. Every head coach post Fulmer has at least had respectable recruiting classes. UT still recruits itself. Just needs the right head man to put everything else into motion. Winning being priority #1.Tell me again why you're so high on Marrone? If you did in thread 2, I must've missed it. Apologies sent
His buyout is $25 million too.John Feinstein on the Midday 180 in Nashville started talking about Scott Frost at Nebraska. He is 10-19 in his almost three years at Nebraska.....Pruitt's record is quite a bit better than that even after losing to GA State and BYU and playing in a hard division/conference. They also pointed out that he won more games in his final year at UCF than his entire tenure at Nebraska.
But they probably won't fire him this year because of who he is historically at Nebraska. This is what I'm afraid would happen with Tee and Tennessee.
Frost is their last try to get back to relevance, it feels like. Osborne has said if it doesn’t work out with Frost it probably isn’t going to work out at all.John Feinstein on the Midday 180 in Nashville started talking about Scott Frost at Nebraska. Please God no! Do not hire who the fans want because 95% of us are mostly clueless about football and even more than that are clueless about what it takes to run a football program.Try hiring who the fans want and not who UT thinks we need.History shows this line of thinking has been disastrous and set our program back a decade.I promise you a hugh freeze hire will skyrocket this fanbase hype to the moon.
100%. Then he had more chances to do the right thing with extra practice weeks before the Arkansas and Auburn games. He's been digging his own grave.I've said it earlier in the year.
If Pruitt just started bailey after Kentucky and let some younger guys play, he would have gotten a lot less criticism just to show he's willing to try new things. Maybe they work and maybe they don't, but he's as stubborn as an ass and thinks he can continue to place a square peg in a round hole. Over and over and over and over and over again. Not a good look at all.

Listen to VFL's and other people who know what it takes to play football at this level and lead a program effectively.
