Everyone dying to run off Phil. It’s like we don’t remember how things turned the last time we ran off Phil.
Blackburn should have gotten the AD job when Currie was hired after they fired Currie, Blackburn should have gotten a call but Phil weaseled his way right in the door. He has no business running the AD

This is so right.

I am stunned at how this place has turned on the guy - all for scummy Hugh Freeze no less!
We’re tired of being a second rate loser program. We want to win. Pruitt isn’t the guy, everyone knows that, so fire him now and get someone new. Fulmer won’t hire Freeze? Fine, get someone else. A winner. Another offseason of hiring and firing assistants is the best we can do? Pathetic.

With you 100%, and like I’ve said, I don’t believe Pruitt is coming back next year.

I just see people obsessed with the shiny object (Freeze) and are willing to throw Phillip Fulmer in the trash to get it.

A complete and total 180 from 2017 and it is stunning.

There are plenty of coaches who can take us to the next level. And like you said, we need to make it happen.

I personally didn't want Fulmer here then, I don't want him anywhere near the football program

It's not like UT doesn't run the numbers and evaluate all scenarios. Fans always claim a new coach will send ticket sales through the roof and make a coaching change profitable, but that hasn't been the case. Attendance goes up and ticket sales blip, but the increase in ticket and gameday revenue isn't enough to cover the many expenses of a coaching change.

Not to mention UT has facility renovations and upgrades on the calendar, and TV revenue is down due to COVID. I have more of a cut your losses perspective so I agree that it's not always about numbers, but like I've said, Fulmer is willing to ride with Pruitt and there's little enthusiasm for a coaching change at UT this year. It would take a shift in thinking, top-down.

Do you think Pruitt wants out?

I think Fulmer thought Pruitt was sprinkled with Saban pixie dust. And Fulmer was probably driven by his own bias-- that a great coordinator could transition to a great HC, especially with his help and guidance. UT has learned a costly lesson-- this rebuild needs someone with HC experience and success. And someone who can assemble and keep an elite staff, instead of overpaying guys to underachieve.
Seems we learn costly lessons on every hire. 🤣

Banging prostitutes vs being complicit in the penn state stuff and treating his players in the NFL like garbage

Neither are good but one is WAY more forgivable than the other

Right. No one is turning on Phil but in this situation, you have to pull the trigger. Vandy is doing it, SC is doing it so it’s not about money. That’s crowd control talk.

If you keep Pruitt; he’s going to have to make 2-4 staff changes before next year.... what proven assistant coaches are signing up to to join Pruitt going into a do or die year. That’s what gets you Larry Scott and mike canalas. So either do it now or suffer through an even longer year next year praying that we go 7-5. No thanks on that.

There were personal issues he had to deal with.

If you recall he had some significant “iffy” late night tweets. Use your imagination of what that might mean

I think he’s working hard, but not having a lot of fun. The pressure is getting to him.

I don’t think he’s going to handle it well if you tell him he has to fire some of his guys. So my guess is if he’s coming back next year, there won’t be a wholesale change like people want.

Some guys might move on for their own interests, Ansley, Neids and Osovet come to mind.

That’s not what I’m talking about.

I remember the absolute, unmitigated GLEE around these parts when Fulmer finally got the job. “We’re taking our program back from the Haslams!”

Pruitt isn’t going to survive, that’s pretty clear to me. But I would still rather have Fulmer in charge than some penny pinching, spreadsheeting toting nerd who cares more about his resume than the athletic department.
