Dinardo.Y’all need to calm down thinking Vandy is going to outhire anybody. That place has been a coaching graveyard since World War II. James Franklin is the only guy I can think of that left there with his career intact.
I’m all for the best player to be on the field. I don’t care if it’s a woman but I don’t get why it’s such a big deal to have a female kicker come out and kick it like a middle school player and make a big deal about it. Someone else was better and kicked the rest of the game. She was used as a publicity stunt and people acted like she broke through a barrier. Nope, just a side show for attention.
I still had season tickets in the height of Franklin's run and the stadium was usually half empty. Once they beat us a few times and started acting like Richards, I decided I did not want to give them my money anymore. It was a good value and probably still is if you want to see some SEC teams without having to leave town.Nashville is dying to have a good college team in the area.
Vandy could really hit the lottery fast if they could put a winning product on the field.
The stadium is a great location and just needs to be bigger but Nashville would embrace Vandy.
The city has a ton of Yankees now who would where the Vsndy sweatshirts because its considered borderline Ivy league school.

Dinardo.
Mason was 3-3 against us. I'm glad he's leaving for that reason but he seems like a really good man in the community and it stinks that we'll probably lose him as a neighbor.
As for who Vandy will hire, skin color was definitely a factor with the selection of Franklin's replacement. David Williams died last year and the new AD is a black female who I am not very familiar with.
Yeah, I saw ESPN touting the historical significance (mostly because they want to generate clicks and ad revenue, one assumes). And one of my (Vandy grad) daughters went out of her way to mention it to me, as well.Mason helped make history yesterday. Vanderbilt made Mason history today.
Muschamp went 9-4 in his second year at SC and beat Michigan in the outback bowlI think neither muschamp nor mason had near the success at usce or vandy that Pruitt had in year 2 at UT. That gave Pruitt a little more cushion coming into this year. UT just took a nose dive this year. All things considered, Pruitt has had 2 respectable seasons at UT (beating aub and ms st year 1 considered a success) and 1 terrible season, but I understand the what have you done for me lately mentality.
While I don't know that she was better or worse than anyone else on the team. They didn't use any other kicker. That was their sole kickoff of the game. They didn't score or even get in position to attempt a field goal.
I understand getting beat by better teams because that is part of competition. What I have a hard time with is the quitting. JP lost the team at the end of his first season and it appears this team has quit on him too. I don’t think he overcomes this.I think neither muschamp nor mason had near the success at usce or vandy that Pruitt had in year 2 at UT. That gave Pruitt a little more cushion coming into this year. What will be hilarious is seeing the mental gymnastics if its a close game with Florida or somehow we beat them, assuming Bailey is starting.Best thing for long-term prognosis of the program is for Florida to beat us like a rented mule next Saturday.

But I'm not really seeing it.
Fact is, other college football teams have played female kickers. Several times, over the decades. One of those kickers even scored points for her team. "Yes," ESPN says, "but those weren't Power 5 programs."
Well, neither is Vandy. I mean, in name sure, but in point of fact, barely.
It's not like a major Power 5 program played a female kicker. Vandy did. That's not much different than New Mexico or Kent State.
So, not as historic as all that. Just another iteration of a thing that rarely happens.
Go Vols!
