Derek Mason fired

Doesn’t really have to pay him anything. Muschamp’s contract didn’t include offset language, so he gets the entire buyout regardless of the salary at his next job. Now given his track record as a DC, he’ll probably command 1.5 million or more. Which means he’ll really be raking in the cash.

Wow. Seems to be going around a bit with this new contract language.

Vandy will hire an offense guy. They’re sick of not scoring many points. There’s an entire regimen there now than when Mason was hired.

I had a strange sense that once Mason trotted out a female place kicker it wasn’t going to be long. Just sayin
I’m all for the best player to be on the field. I don’t care if it’s a woman but I don’t get why it’s such a big deal to have a female kicker come out and kick it like a middle school player and make a big deal about it. Someone else was better and kicked the rest of the game. She was used as a publicity stunt and people acted like she broke through a barrier. Nope, just a side show for attention.

He’s gong to have the opportunity to get a much better job in the next few years.
True, but if you're making less than a million, it would be hard to turn down $3M plus Vandy could offer. Then he could still bounce in a couple years.

It was an obvious publicity stunt. When I first heard about it I was like, “Dang, more power to her.” I should have known better. This was about attention and money for everyone involved.

Since Vandy is a private school, his contract info is private. I do remember a Tennessean article that listed his salary at around $3.5 million with three years remaining. It looks like they will have to pay a significant buyout. This firing should get the attention of our AD and our head coach!
His compensation is listed on Vandy’s tax return. So while his contract is not public you can see his compensation when Vandy filed its tax return.

I think neither muschamp nor mason had near the success at usce or vandy that Pruitt had in year 2 at UT. That gave Pruitt a little more cushion coming into this year. UT just took a nose dive this year. All things considered, Pruitt has had 2 respectable seasons at UT (beating aub and ms st year 1 considered a success) and 1 terrible season, but I understand the what have you done for me lately mentality.

Just curious... What happens if next year is exactly like this year? What excuse will you dig up then?

Since when is going 5-7, 2-6 in the conference with a loss to Vanderbilt a "respectable season"?
