What happens if Harrison Bailey transfers out after this year.

We would be in trouble if HB transferred. I didn’t think that was possible, but if Pruitt keeps playing JG over a clearly better Bailey, that could happen. I don’t see JG leaving next year, so that could push HB away since Pruitt can’t seem to make the right decision about QBs that the entire country sees.

Part of quarterback evaluation is how a quarterback starts and completes a game and the level of competition. Another is doing enough of what it takes to win. Never got enough of that from Maurer. If Bailey starts and finishes a win against Vandy, it surpasses anything Maurer has accomplished...so far.

So you're basically saying Brian is waiting for Pruitt to leave. I wouldn't gamble like that If I were him. Too many other coaches out there in college that could let Brian show his skills to mess around with what UT is doing.
Arkansas, FSU, Houston, Oregon are all good landing spots for him. Florida too. Emory Jones is less accurate than Franks was.

Even if Brian went JUCO for a year...he'd be playing and developing as a QB. Don't allow him to have faith that UT will do the right thing regardless of Pruitt.

The Tennessee Vols haslve one of the BEST college football tradition ever. The Orange T. Neyland stadium. The Fall colors of Orange in the Smokey Mountains. The incredible players that have come through the program. The Championships and Gameday atmosphere.

It is beyond ridiculous how bad we've been for so long. And this BS with Bubba Gump Pruitt is simply unnecessary and unacceptable. Cut the losses now and get THE guy- Hugh Freeze.

I can’t believe people still waste time discussing Brian Maurer in general but particularly with someone who has the username 1vol8 and a join date coinciding with Brian Maurer’s arrival.

Start Bailey. Let Maurer transfer. Bailey-Shrout-Salter is good for next year. If JG stays he can carry the clipboard Shrout had last week.

I have watched a bunch of Bailey's High School games. He is the REAL DEAL. He can make all the throws. He doesn't stare down receivers. He doesn't freak out in the pocket under pressure. Everyone needs to stop freaking out about our future QB. Bailey is the MAN. He just needs to be playing and playing sooner than later. This is a free year. He should be getting all the reps he can. I do understand the pressure Pruitt is under to win. I just wish I could see what is going on in practice because what I see on game day does not make sense.

I saw Bailey play probably more than your average UT fan. He was right up the next county over from me here in Georgia. I was almost ready to buy a house just down the street from Marietta High last year but decided to stay put. Any way, I agree with you. He's as good as most any high schooler I've ever seen running a pro set type offense. Manningesqe in the way he plays. No one gets better watching inferior players play in front of them, NO ONE. Want HB to get better? Get him on the field more. JG is not a winner playing football, he's just not.

Its just not going to matter WHO starts against the gators, we are going to get whacked. Because we suck. And the coaches suck, and we have forgotten how to win. As much as I absolutely DESPISE Florida, getting slaughtered by them may help us down the road. As much as Phil loves the old " Pound the rock, defence wins championships", malarkey, those days are GONE. A good D.C. is not a good idea for a head coach. You need an offensive oriented approach. We play safe football with a mediocre QB and opponents read us like a comic book. Time to clean house.

Who cares? Pruitt leaves then we can talk. Having a high 4* QB doesn't matter when Pruitt is in charge.

Quit being so dramatic.

He is a true freshman who is the #2. He is ahead of all other quarterbacks besides JG.

All the mods at 247 believe JG will not be back next year.

That means Bailey will be starting next year and he isn't losing a year of eligibility this year.

I know things are bad but being a drama queen doesn't help.

If he's smart he'll transfer. He won't be developed here. He'll only be a social justice champion.
