Is there something going on in Knoxville

For years the school was sucking tons of money from the athletic side to the academic side. Much more than bama etc. Bama was allowed to keep millions more per year and the academic side used bamas winning as free publicity for its online school. Ours whored the program out and took its money.

The bots appear to be very anti football.

Those are two major issues.

Just ask yourself why SC has much more on hand cash than UT? Yes we fired two coaches back to back but we are a national brand. If run remotely correctly the coffers should be full.

Even at 80 percent capacity our stadium holds more seats than 99 percent of stadiums and we constantly get to 90 plus percent attendance.

We also have the ESPN contract.

The Issue isnt why we dont have money but where did it go? Buy outs suck but our cupboard has been supposedly bare since Dooley left. Very concerning.

And before anyone says we are broke due to covid. Wrong!

Tn athletics has been stating its broke since Dooley.

Absolutely, completely false. May have been trending that way a few years ago, but you have a President that doesn’t have an academic background that is focused heavily on fundraising and athletics. You have a chancellor who was hired in part because of her experience at schools with prominent athletic programs.

The present administration here is as committed to athletics as any since the 1990s.

What’s going on behind the scenes right now? People in decision-making roles taking a very deliberate approach to the situation. Everyone knows the constant instability of the last 15 years has dug this hole, and more changes aren’t going to dig it out.

Pruitt is getting next year, that’s all but certain. If you want to say UT isn’t committed to winning based on that, you’re entitled to your opinion. But this is no longer a place that is going to be allowed to flounder because people can’t get on the same page.
Making a great hire would fix that. Keeping Pruitt longer is only going to hurt the program. Fan apathy is legit and at an all time high. We can't afford to keep Pruitt. Watch us lose to Vanderbilt. There is no justifiable reason to start jg yet the coach you guys won't get rid of just keeps losing games due to his qb decision. His coaching decisions are bad. Just...bad. They are pushing fans away. My god, we are gonna lose to Vanderbilt.

Again, the people that were pushing those things are no longer employees.
There are no good reasons to keep Pruitt. Just excuses people tell themselves. He will not win here. We will only get worse. Wait till our recruiting starts to suffer, and it will. I just can't fathom how anyone can say anything other than he has failed at his job and its time to move on. SC cares more about their football program. It's pathetic.

Hard to find an exact number on how much they have doled out on stadium and facility upgrades.

I don't think that is by accident either.

You might as well give up. You've got a full fledged lynch mob out there, empowered by the internet. No way they'll allow Tennessee football to succeed.

Big money players are looking at spending whatever it takes to get Herm Edwards from Arizona State, this is from someone in the know. Will be a package deal with Hart Lee Dykes and Jeff Saturday.

If winning is the expectation why did either just get contract extensions?????
The Pruitt extension isn't that hard to figure out. You're either keeping a football coach under contract for 4+ years or you're getting rid of him.

Who was riding an 8 game winning streak and a bowl win over a B10 team.

This process started in 2002 under Fulmer. Correct, we stopped taking marginal academic students then and have since fallen far behind in the recruiting of that type of player. I think since CPF became the AD it’s trying to loosen back up BUT, is no where it was under Coach Majors and Fulmer in the 90’s. Theirs is 100% fact!
Are we trying to recruit players who academically could not get in to Georgia, Florida, or Bama?

You post dumber and dumber things every time you type something. How do you explain the success of Notre Dame, Stanford, North Carolina and Ohio State? They have more stringent rules than we do about what students they accept and have had way more success. Your ability to not say anything correct on any post you make is impressive.

That the majority of us don’t have the money/influence to see? It just feels like there is something going on here that doesn’t meet the eye for those of us who aren’t connected. Is there booster/AD conflict? Is there state government/UT administration conflict. Is there school administration/ AD conflict. ESPN published a tell all article this week that details the situations that caused FSUs dramatic slide. It makes me wonder what’s going on behind the scenes thats gotten us to this point.
I hope the boosters and bigwigs are meeting together and plotting a plan to get rid of this fool currently coaching our Vols.

It started back in 1992 when Fulmer replaced Majors. Seems like some were were against Fulmer from day 1 due to the way things went and were glad to make a move to get him out as soon as they could at any cost. When 2005 happened it set up perfectly for 2008 to be his last year as HC. Some say Fulmer lost a step, for many his days were numbered from day 1. UT took a chance on Fulmer and it paid off with a NC in 1998.

Since then chances that have been taken with non-VFLs created a short leash for the new guy. Kiffin could have come here and won, but he bolted. Dooley was the son of a name and made a bad DC and scheme change in what turned out to be his last year. Jones was too conservative and who knows what was really happening behind the scenes.

As for JP, being a gump he started behind the eight ball, but mostly being promoted from DC to HC. Now with the way he has handled JG, it’s like a self fulfilling prophecy type situation.

Start HB and it all might turn around for the Vols and JP. It’s a QB driven game.

There’s been something going on for quite some time now. The first time my eyebrow raised was 2018 Alabama game. JG was looking horrible and Pruitt refused to try another qb until JG got hurt despite being blown out. Christ came in and threw 2 tds within minutes. Yet the fan base chose to believe Pruitt that JG was the better qb even though Christ put an egg on Pruitts face that day.

Fast forward to 2019. JG looks so bad to begin the season that a change was warranted by halftime of week 1 vs GAST. Yet the fan base chose to believe Pruitt that JG was the best qb. Then came BYU and the same held true. Instead of using UT Chatt as a prep game for a younger qb with a higher upside, Pruitt chose to use it to build JGs confidence while giving the others just a fraction of PT and misusing their skill sets to boot. Because let’s not forget..... “JG gives us the best chance” but here comes UF and the gauntlet of the schedule. Once again JG looks like JG and only THEN did Pruitt make a change. Why then? Why vs UF? Did JG not look the same in previous weeks? I’ll tell you why. Because the UF, UGA and Bama defense would stand a better chance of making a true freshman look worse than JG than GAST, BYU and UT Chatt, thus making HIM “appear” to be right all along. Only it didn’t happen the way he AND any of us expected. Maurer was MUCH better than advertised and his success continued until he got injured and had to take time to heal. When he came back he was understandably rusty but Pruitt used that as an EXCUSE to bench him rather than allowing him to “settle in”. That move alone, regardless of how JG played, was proof positive that PRUITT didn’t and doesn’t WANT to move on from JG and he was in waiting for a reason to justify switching back to JG.

Two different qbs in two years has proven better than JG (Maybe 3 now if Baileys garbage time is true to his skills of a full game) and Pruitts comments are still consistent with what he’s always said that “JG is the best we have”.

What’s more alarming is now that people are starting to catch on to his BS, most only seem to remember what’s happening “now” while not realizing we’re three years into this lie.
Christ was better because he threw the ball on time. Maurer was better for several reasons as well. Bailey appears to be better in short sample and NONE of the three were given even a fraction of the chance Pruitt is continuing to show JG. I feel like the only only question left unanswered is “why?”.
