Pruitt: “Pick 6 biggest play of the game”

There needs to be coordinated protests on campus. I’m serious , a couples of days of that and Pruitt would be fired. I’m talking about 10 to 20 thousand people. This is the year of the protest.

It just blows my mind that here we are, watching one of the worst QB's in all of football, as a 5th year senior, and we somehow, supposedly don't have any better options... and to add salt to the wound he may very well come back and be given the nod to start for a 6TH YEAR in some cruel twist of fate.

I’m gonna vent a few things about the game then I never want to think about it again.

4 plays determined the outcome of the game.
2 missed field goals
Our secondary getting burnt deep that one time
The pic 6.

We’re looking at a 23-16 victory if all those plays go our way.

Also, when the game was still in reach and aub was up 10 and had to convert 3rd and longs on their sealing drive. They went to the middle of the field with slants and we had not answer. It’s like a free ten yards every time

Post game comments per Ben McKee on Twitter:

Auburn defensive back Smoke Monday, who picked off Jarrett Guarantano and returned it 100-yards for a touchdown: “One of those quarterbacks who loved to stare his receivers down ... He wasn’t doing a good job of looking us off tonight, so I tilted away and came back late.”

Pruitt “Gitmo managed game well” “ Did a good job”
Pruitt “ HB needs to work harder in practice to execute in game”
You just can’t make this merd up

And Bailey needs to give him that look. You know, he's got that look (it was time for a "Fletch" line).

When #2 moves on from the team in 2 or 5 or 10 years, he's got a great shot at working with the TN Lottery board. Forget Cash 3, Cash 4, etc. He's got the perfect angle for a brand new, exciting scratch-off game called the "Pick 6".

No. The biggest "play" of the game was the decision to start JG knowing he's as much of a liability as he is.

This isn't even about JG. McElroy kind of hit it. He should be appreciated for his heart and dedication to UT. But that doesn't make him a good QB. He isn't. He is a liability and it seems that when under the pressure of a game... even Pruitt knows it.

This is 100% about Pruitt's stubbornness and lack of ability to think strategically. You don't play the guy who gives you the best chance of winning the next game. You play the guy who gives you the best chance of winning the MOST games.

I agree with you...

And posted yesterday about the lack of production at the QB position being the "feel good" difference between us and Arkansas....
Franks would be killing it in our offense with our weapons....while JG would absolutely suck in Arky's system--(I realize subjective opinion here).

Nevertheless.....Pruitt's arguments for not throwing Bailey out there BEFORE THE ARKANSAS GAME did have merit.

However, IMO, there's NO EXCUSE for failing to take the 2 weeks after BAMA and having Bailey ready to go for the rest of the season!
The game plan against Arkansas wasn't complicated--and if that dumb-azz of an OC had half a brain he could've figured out a way to take advantage of a team who plays zone even with a true FR QB...

Pruitt does bear the ultimate responsibility for the offensive crap show we've seen----but the one actually worthless on this coaching staff is Chaney!

People just need to calm down about Pruitt...He knows the game as well as anyone out there!

Personally--I just want to see how the recruiting class closes this year and am ready to write 2020 off as the final act of the JGs pathetic run.

Agree on part but not on Chaney. If Chaney had been given the keys, JG wouldn't be QB right now. That was Pruitt's call and he handicapped Chaney with it.

You shouldn't underestimate how much Chaney's hands are tied by JG's inabilities. Take those swing passes and WR screens that everyone else in the world seems to have success with. UT never has with JG. I don't know if he can't run some of the "set up" plays to make those effective or if it is just the fact that he turns too early then has to wind up to throw. But it seems like an eternity from the time his shoulders turn and the time the receiver turns up field.

Chaney has been successful. But it doesn't matter who UT hires as OC as long as Pruitt is as restrictive in his philosophy as he is.

Chaney is NOT the same guy this year.....everyone up on the HILL knows it....and he's just playing out the string like so many do.

That Arky 2nd half was ALL on CHANEY.....NO ONE ELSE to blame for it.....

Nevertheless, I've been on record from Chaney's hiring that we made a HUGE MISTAKE by hiring him.
Chaney had the best talent he's ever seen at UGA for a few years while he was down there---and choked it away in some key games..

And, let you forget....It was CJP who listened in last year during games and changed some key play-calls during games that turned things around in those games by Chaney's own admission.
It was CJP who had to get Chaney's head out of his azz last year and remind him to attack down the field with the ball....

CJP has forgotten more FB than just about anyone out there worth hiring...
and I'm SICK of the coaching carousel....IT'S JUST DAMNED STUPID to even mention firing CJP in his 3rd year that has been WRACKED BY COVID.....

To many games with pick 6s and fumbles for 6s for him to ever see the field. Hopefully Pruitt gets fired over this and we get a real coach. That's all I want for Christmas

It’s on the coaches. JG is horrible throwing in tight spaces like the red zone. He’s been that way his entire career. Why Chaney called that play is beyond me. Didn’t he see the numerous games earlier in JGs career?

Chaney has no issues anywhere else.
Pruitt wants JG at QB.
Therefore it is no one else's fault...but Pruitt.

It's really THAT simple

JG: "I don't care what the OC sent in, I'm going for the endzone and I'll be a hero!"

Who knows? Assistant coaches don't get to log in on Volnation and tell what really went down with that "call"

Chaney has ALWAYS had issues calling complete games against the tougher teams.....

I'm sorry if you can't understand that fact.....nevertheless it is true.
If the Georgia State game didn't show that fact--then I suppose it's possible that you just can't understand--or don't want to understand

I'm sick of losing.

I don't know anything about Chaney's supposed personal health issues. First I've heard of those accusations. It is very apparent that Pruitt is making the QB call... and then excusing that decision repeatedly.

I have liked Pruitt from the start. I think he "knows" football. I think he can teach the game. He is failing as a Head Coach.... Covid or no. Everyone is dealing with Covid and the team has played WORSE as the season progressed.

A RS SR QB who can't get out of his own way had nothing to do with Arkansas and the rest of the losses?

I don't care if Chaney is replaced. But I don't think that will fix the problem. Pruitt seems determined to do it at UT the way Saban did it when he first arrived at Bama. Even Saban has given up on that philosophy now.

********, Chaney called the 6 pass plays inside the 10 in the Gator Bowl that resulted in 2 FGs vs 2 TDS. He called the pass inside the red zone vs Auburn that went the other way. JG is terrible picking out receivers in small spaces. Even I’ve seen enough before that to know.

I just saw the pick six at Auburn for the first time. I was on pain meds and fell asleep at halftime. Could JG have stared down the receiver any longer than he did? How in the hell can a fifth year senior still make that kind of mistake? You know Weinke has got to be beating his head against the wall. That’s just a horrible lack of football IQ
